Questions & Answers

To make a full pot of cold brew coffee, how much coffee should I put in?

Most people find that when making cold brew, they need to use more coffee grounds than when making hot coffee. To make it the right strength, I usually use about 40 oz of water and 1 cup of ground coffee. If you use the traditional 1 table spoon per cup method, you'll get a very weak product that tastes more like tea than coffee.

What makes this plastic press superior to the Bodum 51-? ounce "Brazil" glass French press, which is less expensive and can brew hot or cold?

There is no advantage because it can be used for both hot and cold pressing. Because the tan colored one was on sale for $13 at the time, I bought this one.

How long can you keep coffee in the fridge after it's been made?

Mine doesn't last long because I drink it too quickly, but if you keep it refrigerated, it should last at least a week! I've got two pots, so once one is done, I'll start on the other! You'll never buy those high-priced oversweet cold coffees again if you add your favorite liquid creamer!

Is there a way to get a replacement for the flat lid? My own was melted. ?

The person who asked this question most likely already has a replacement lid, but if anyone else is in the same situation, I would recommend going to Walmart and buying a brand new lid for less than $10 before tax - It's also available for $3 more on their online store.

Selected User Reviews For Bodum Bean Cold Brew Coffee Maker, Press, Plastic, 1.5 Liter, 51 Ounce, Black

LOVE IT! Because of the reviews, I was very sceptical about this
5/5

It was, however, about $12. 00- 00, I thought to myself, "What the hell is going on here?" I'll start with a low-cost one to see if I enjoy the process. It makes me swoon. These photos are from the first time I used the product - washed away I'm getting ready for the second time I'll be using it. There are no scratches, no coffee grounds stuck where they shouldn't be, no cracks, and no broken pieces. For the first 12-hours of storage, this cold brewer comes with a lid. After 24 hours, replace the lid with the press to serve as a reminder of how long it's been in the fridge. Guys, it's so simple!br>br>The first time I tried to remove the lid, it was so tight that I was worried it wouldn't work. When it came time to press it after it had been in the fridge, I was worried that it would be difficult to push down and make a mess, but it slid down like butter, so don't worry if you have trouble at first! br>br>I simply used regular ground coffee from our local grocery store, and there were no coffee grounds in my coffee. If you're filling the entire thing with water, you'll need a lot of coffee, but when you consider how many k-cups there are, it all works out. cups you'll use over the course of a few days I filled mine up all the way the first time and the second time, and I got about 5-miles out of it. It yielded a total of 7 cups of coffee. br>br>This product is well worth the money, and I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews because I think it's fantastic, especially for children under the age of 12. 00! I took pictures of the instructions because they're hidden inside the coffee maker, which was a pain at first, so hopefully this will help someone else.

The Bodum Cold Brew Maker is a device that allows you to make cold brew
3/5

This was recommended to me by a friend, so I bought it! The top lid snapped in half just 20 minutes after I received it. I couldn't get the plunger lid off because it was suctioned so tightly, and the thin outer plastic piece literally snapped as a result. The directions were inconveniently placed at the bottom of the page, so I couldn't even refer to them. I knew I needed to push the plunger up as far as I could, but The spoon was placed on top of the plunger by mistake, so you can't pull it all the way up to help remove the lid. I finally got it off after a lot of frustration. I emailed the company (as I'm sure others have) after reading other complaints. They couldn't have given a damn if they didn't want to. They essentially apologized for my misfortune! Very dissatisfied with the design flaw and the company's lack of product support!.

For two coffee drinkers, this is the ideal size cold brew french press
4/5

I bought the Black Bodum Bean Cold Brew Coffee Maker and was pleasantly surprised by its size (1. On a hot summer day, 5L is the ideal amount for two coffee drinkers to enjoy a cold brew beverage. If you're looking for a cold brew coffee maker, you're probably already aware of this. but NOTE: Allowing the coffee to brew in the fridge overnight will take 12 hours! However, getting a nice, smooth cup of coffee is well worth the effort. br>br>The plastic carafe appears to be quite sturdy, and both lids (the overnight lid for freshness and the french press / pouring lid for serving) fit into the carafe VERY SNUGLY. Almost too tight (getting them in and out without a lot of effort can be difficult). br>br>However, for the price, the size and quality meet my expectations, and it performs exactly as I would expect; it is dishwasher safe, but I prefer to hand wash to ensure thorough and gentle cleaning. Would definitely recommend! br>br>.

It's a big plastic french press, but it's a good price for a french press of this size
4/5

It's low-tech and unpretentious, which is exactly how it should be. Taking the plunger lid off or pulling up the plunger has never been a problem for me. Simply twist and pull up to get the desired result. br>br>The plunger lid is made up of two pieces (excluding the plunger mechanism) that come apart from time to time and must be snapped back together. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a major problem, but if I do need to replace it, it'll be cheap. br>br>I wish the carafe was made of a single piece of plastic, or that the clear part could be removed for cleaning. Like other reviewers, I had a couple of coffee grounds get stuck, but they were easily removed. br>br>My cold brew recipe calls for 48 ounces of water and 6 ounces of coarsely ground coffee to be brewed for 18 minutes. At room temperature for 20 hours. This fills the carafe all the way to the clear part's tippy top, and the flat lid has an airtight gasket that prevents the water from overflowing when it's put on. I then strain it through a paper filter, yielding approximately 32 ounces of coffee. While the french press filter has a fine mesh and a gasket around it, the paper filter will still have some silt. Pour over ice and have a good time!.

Simply Incredible - UPDATE: Stars are being removed from the rankings - Customer service at Bodum is not at all helpful
3/5

I bought it to make Cold Brew Coffee, but I'm thinking I'll use it for hot coffee as well this winter. OMG. It's incredible, especially considering the price. I use Starbucks regular ground coffee and haven't had a single coffee ground in my pot yet. It's all pushed to the bottom by the plunger. I add half a cup of coffee grounds and a cup of water to the mixture. I alternate between putting it in the refrigerator and letting it sit out on the counter to brew. I usually brew it for about 24 hours, and it works great; I even take it on trips because coffee is hard to come by in hotels right now because of the pandemic. Because I've only had it for a few weeks, I haven't noticed the mold issue that some have mentioned. What does it hurt to give it a shot if you're on the fence? The price is unquestionably reasonable! I give it my highest recommendation. br>br>The 3rd of August, 2020 - UPDATE - This does not make me happy any longer. Yes, the price was right, but the round mesh thing on the spindle broke after only a month. I was still able to use it, so I foolishly missed the return window when I realized I couldn't keep it going any longer. As a result, despite the fact that it was a low-risk situation, It was a low-cost item that didn't last long enough to justify the high price; we've contacted the manufacturer and will see what they have to say. I'll update that information as soon as I have it. br>br>August 27, 2020 br>br>August 27, 2020 br>br>August 27, 2020 br>b UPDATE - I was told by Bodum customer service that I needed to return it to Amazon, but the window had closed and I was unable to do so. They were completely unhelpful, and thank goodness it was a low-cost option. It was a good lesson. Return, but don't try to fix it. I'm going to re-glue it and use it until I'm sick of it. In the future, I will not purchase Bodum products.
