I'm not sure whether the newer part will fit your DLC 042, but the old part fit perfectly on my old processor
There's no way for me to know. Not sure what model number it is, but I am sure it is the chrome deluxe model. This is a perfect fit!
The size varies from small to large. In this case, the difference is the size of the hole that fits It seems this one would be a good choice for the DLC - I have chosen stem 8 because it has a larger diameter.

The stem of my old stem broke while shredding a block of cheddar recently! What a mess! The plastic part in the cheese had to be picked out so that no food was wasted. Thankfully, this replacement part was available and was the right fit! The other day I tore open a block of parm and was a bit worried about tearing another one. Vous avez succeeded!
