Questions & Answers

This is a food product, so the ingredients should be listed. What are the ingredients in this dish?

The Mystery Oil's ingredients aren't listed on the bottle, but according to the pone seller, it's a mix of food-grade oils. mineral oil, linseed oil, and orange oil, all of which are of high quality. The Board Cream is made up of "natural unbleached beeswax and food grade mineral oil," according to the label. Both products have an NSF label on the bottles, but the Mystery Oil doesn't have a warning that it's flammable. All oils, however, can catch fire if overheated, which you're unlikely to do with either of these items.

What's the difference between a cream and an oil? Is there a benefit to using one over the other?

The price difference is $25 for one and $12 for the other. Don't be fooled by what they say. Purchase some generic, food-safe medications from a pharmacy. grade mineral oil, and treat yourself to something nice with the $36 you've just saved. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude.

Is this a 12-bottle deal or a one-bottle deal?

1 16oz bottle is included in this deal.

I got the john boos mystery oil because my cutting board isn't smooth and has a splinter side. It doesn't look good. I'm at a loss for what to do next. ?

Is there a way to sand it? I have a bamboo cutting board that has mildewed in a few spots. I sanded it down to get rid of the mildew before applying the oil. It almost appears to be brand new!

One of these bottles lasted almost 5 years of oiling my prized butcher block, and it was the best

Thanks to BOOS, it's still in perfect working order! Here are a few pointers: br>
- A small lint-free cloth can be used. When applying BOOS, use a free rag and store it in a small Tupperware container that is airtight after each use; as long as there isn't any air in the room It won't catch fire, and the rag will be soaked in oil and ready to use again. br>- Squeeze some of the oil into a small bowl and heat in the microwave for a minute before treating your block - The wood is better penetrated by hot oil. Wipe in a grain-forward direction.
- The first coats should be applied quickly, evenly, and liberally. Allow for 30 minutes of resting time before wiping away any excess. Alternatively, if this is your first time. It's possible that it's still damp. Rep with a second coat.
- Because it's a food-grade oil, it's safe to eat. I use it to care for my cast iron, and it even polishes and seals granite countertops with just a small amount. br>Congratulations. You've discovered a high-quality item!.

This is an excellent first step toward restoring wooden kitchen items
5/5

This oil and paste were purchased for the purpose of restoring some wooden plates my parents purchased while stationed in Puerto Rico 60 years ago. After reading a lot of positive and negative feedback, I went to their website and read their care instructions. As a first step, the oil will be used. It's referred to on the website as "shampoo" for cleaning and restoring moisture, but it should be followed by the paste as a "sealer. " Tung oil isn't listed anywhere on their website, but I've used it to seal wood for outside use in the past because that was its original purpose. ships of the navy Returning to the mystery oil, there was no discernible orange scent, but the linseed smell was very light. Before the treatment, several of the boards appeared to be very bleached, and after their first treatment, there was no orange tint to them, but they had only one treatment. It took several coats of oil to get the boards to stop sucking up the oil like sponges due to their extreme dryness. The cream gave the boards a nice smooth feel, rather than an oily one. I would strongly recommend this product, but I would also advise you to purchase the cream as recommended on the website. For your viewing pleasure, I've attached a before and after photo of one of the boards.

It's fantastic! I originally purchased this to prepare my two new Boos brand walnut cutting boards for use, but after seeing how well it treated them, I decided to use it on all of my wooden cooking utensils (boy, does it make my olivewood utensils look great!)
5/5

It even restored the appearance of an old wooden spoon I inherited from my mother when I married 26 years ago! I usually finish with Boos Block Board Cream, which adds a touch more oil and wax to help seal everything in. If you use wood in any part of your kitchen, I strongly advise you to keep a bottle on hand. (Note: The Boos mystery oil and Boos butcher block cream were used to seal the mini olivewood cutting board, which was brand new at the time.

This oil produces excellent results when used consistently and with Elbow Grease
5/5

There are no short cuts when it comes to protecting chopping blocks, boards, islands, or wooden utensils, and I've tried a variety of products to protect them. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, as well as perseverance. br>Every morning, my husband eats his breakfast at our kitchen island while reading the newspaper, which, of course, results in paper ink being left behind. So, my husband now places a towel on the island, which helps. Cleansing and applying this oil on a regular basis helps even more. br>br>The elbow greasebr>Specifically, after cleaning the island top, I pour a good amount into a small glass bowl and warm in the microwave. After that, I use a soft cloth to generously spread the oil around the entire top as well as the sides in a circular motion, dipping the cloth in the warmed oil. I usually do this at the end of the day, and then leave everything to soak for as long as possible. Since my hands are already oily, this is usually when I wipe down chopping boards, cooking utensils, and so on. Also, as an added bonus - I've also discovered that the oil is very gentle on my cuticles and hands! Gloves are great to use if you don't like the oily feeling. The next step is to put in some elbow grease. I rub the oil into the wood with a clean cloth in a grain-following motion. It takes a long time to complete this task. This is also the point at which you start to appreciate the beauty of your work. This particular brand has worked well for me in terms of soaking in and then providing a nice layer of protection without leaving a sticky residue or an oily odor. I haven't found these qualities in any other similar product. br>br>Bottom Line: If you're looking for a product that protects while also delivering great results, this is the one to try!.

Transforms an old, dingy butcher block into a rich, lovely work of art! Love it! I'm so glad I came across this for my kitchen island!! The top of the butcher block had been varnished (before I bought it) and the varnish was starting to peel away
5/5

It appeared to be terrible! We assumed we'd have to purchase a new top for it, but it wasn't high on our "new" home's priority list. So, after doing some research on Pinterest and the internet, I discovered that all I had to do was sand it down to the bare wood (OK, this is a horrible and messy job!). Consider the possibility of dust strewn about. ), and purchase the Boos BB Oil, and you're done! We now have a lovely kitchen island with a lovely, food-safe countertop. Butcher block top of high quality. br>br>I'm a huge fan of this. It takes less and less oil to soak in each time I do it. My guess is that it was dry when I first did it, but as the oil soaks in each time I do it, it improves. Each application also adds to the color's richness. br>br>I also purchased the creme, but I don't think it's as important as the oil. This stuff is fantastic, and I plan to use it on all of my butcher blocks in the future. It's well worth the money and does exactly what it claims to.
