The blade is made of high carbon stainless steel and is resistant to rust, according to the product description. If it's stored and not in use, I'd oil it after each use and every couple of months.

He'd been looking for a BLADE like this. When I first saw it, I mistook it for a Japanese Katana sword, and I was quite nervous when I took it out of the box. It looked like a sword or, at the very least, a machete to me, but after a good laugh (via text in the middle of the night) with my buddy, I discovered that this was the "knife" he wanted to fillet "big fish. " I can't wait to catch a fish big enough to skin and fillet with this. The knife, on the other hand, is truly incredible. It's comfortable to hold, has a great handle, and is non-slip. The blade is extremely sharp and is prone to slipping. The balance is excellent. It comes with a nice sheath as well. I'm looking forward to putting this thing to work because it appears to be very capable. This knife is fantastic!.
I'm not a pro at filleting, but this knife compensates for my lack of skill: )br>br>It's great for bigger fish and has a razor-sharp edge. It's my go-to for anything over 15 pounds. Having said that, I've used it to fillet 1-pound of fish. Although a 3 pound lionfish worked well, a smaller version would be preferable. br>br>Easy to control, with the perfect amount of flex. Excellent grip and finger stop. br>br>I hope this information is useful.
Since I bought it, I've used it every summer, and it's getting a little dull, but it's still sharp enough to skin salmon and make perfect fillets. A must-have for anyone who has ever needed a fillet knife that is large enough to fillet larger fish than what is available in stores.
Yesterday, I used it to cut pork ribs, which can cause you to lose your grip, but you won't with this knife, which is very easy to handle and extremely sharp, so be careful. It's a coarse filet knife, but I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet because I haven't had the opportunity to go fishing.
On my husband's birthday in April, I gave him this knife. During the summer, he used it on a fish he caught. He stashed the knife in his truck and recently moved it, only to discover that the blade was broken. After only one use, it should not have broken.
I'll order a different type from Bubba because of the size, quality, and flexibility.
It was a fantastic knife; I had no idea how large it was. As a result, I had to return it. It was, however, extremely long-lasting and comfortable to hold. I bought a small blade.
