What happens when a lid is closed? Do the canisters have a size?

They seal well, and they're a good size as well. It's a very nice set at that price!

Can these canisters be divided into smaller sizes? Is it big enough to hold a 5-inch dvd player How much flour or sugar is in a 50-lb bag? What is the sealability of the lids?

It seals very well with the different size lids, I stuffed a 5lb bag of sugar in the biggest of them and still had room for more sugar
