It's only coated on one side, and I've never used them without covering the coated side with aluminum foil and taping down the bottom. I make cakes, and I've used hundreds of them over the years. I cover them with foil to prevent them from dropping. It has never been a guarantee they wouldn't leak through, yet I continue to use them as needed.
There are 6 of them in the package.
The price is much lower than at Michael's
It is something I have never done. I wouldn't like to guess, so I wouldn't do it. It's my fault!

The only cake boards I will use are these. They have always met my needs in the past, and I have used them for many years now. There is no grease proofing in these. Some of the items that are here on Amazon are for sale. On them is lace that looks like silver. For special occasions, I have used those. They are excellent. Those cake boards should be covered with fondant or sugar sheets, or foil if metal is not available. The cake I make depends on which of the three I do. There are cheaper prices online than Walmart, so I plan to use these until birthday season rolls around! It's nice to have them handy so I don't have to run to the store to get just one. I use large aluminum foil and fold it over the side and use tape to In the Wilton cake class I took many years ago, I was taught what you wrote. There will be no sliding of the cake when it is placed on foil. In addition to these boards, you can get cake boxes to fit them. Besides being easier to transport, the professional appearance of the product makes it more appealing. Thanks to the saving, I was able to get something I was going to get in the end.
My package arrived in perfect condition, with no damage during shipping. Sometimes I cut these for other smaller cakes that aren't round since these are very long.
My only wish is that Wilton and other manufactures would make a cake board that's maybe 20 x 14 inches in size. There is no way to pipe a boarder around the cake's base without cutting the cake.
I offered my grandsons a play dough-looking happy monster for his birthday, as per his request. stacked three of these on top of each other and taped them together to support the monster, then covered the tape and seams with foil to make the monster more appealing. It was easy for me to pick it up, they are great.
I consider these cake boards to be pretty sturdy. What I expected was exactly what happened. A quick arrival was the order of the day. What can be said more I am not sure.
Over the past decade, I have been using their products avidly as a home baker, and I have never been disappointed.
It worked perfectly and I got a fantastic deal on Amazon too. I would normally not need those kinds of boots, they're too large for me. My son's birthday cake required a large surface when I made several smaller cakes that looked like "Lego" bricks that would all need frosting (colors) and one for the finished product. These boards helped me decorate cakes on a clean countertop that was easy to move around.
Although, they do not deliver what you are paying for.
