They have never absorbed grease, but my buttercream is not very oily. I've used them several times, and none of them have absorbed grease. It doesn't seem like it would absorb grease since the surface is slick.

2) I bought these because the price per cake drum is lower 1. I. 2. I had never used a white covered cake drum before and didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Their smooth surface makes them easy to clean/smooth off excess buttercream and gives the cake a nice, modern look. There have been times when I used silver and gold foil covered drums at work before, and I wasn't so enamored with an embossed design- I feel that they have an old-fashioned look to them. 1. 2. 3. 1) They are strong. The drum is 12" in diameter and I used it for a two-piece A chocolate devil's food cake iced in Swiss meringue buttercream covered in fondant, topped with a sculpted modeling chocolate cake topper (10" base, 6" top, both 5" tall, 3" in diameter. Koala topper in 5" size). As an assembly-line cake, I did not weigh it, but it seemed to weigh The fourth item 1) If I have to be nit-picky As a picky person, I think it would be lovely if the tiny gap at the edge of the drum was bigger and could catch more crumbs and frosting, but I'm not very concerned about that. Considering it might be a dealbreaker for someone, I just figure it might be worth mentioning. This review will be updated later with some pictures (if I can get to it later).
My experience as a cake professional has given me the chance to try different sizes in this brand because of the low price If you don't mind the imperfections and workarounds, you will be satisfied with these boards. The tiers don't sit level and are a little warped, but the weight of the multi-tiered cake helps to support them. One of my biggest complaints is that the grease proof paper on top is only vertical, and not horizontal. This board absorbs liquid very easily and leaves dark spots all around its top edge. I have had to change my approach to using this type of board, placing only finished cakes on it or using this type of board when fondant is covered in fondant.
The cake boards are sturdy, and I will say that. Some of the glasses are not as well-made as others, so you may have to scrape one or two off and lose a few. I had the feeling that the white finish was a sponge for absorbing the oil in icings or cakes. If you don't cover the entire bottom of the cake and don't let the cake or icing touch the cake board, including the piping around the cake, then you'll have a ring of grease around the cake on the board, and that can be very obvious.
If you add moisture, then they will stain! I hate the price you pay for such a bad product! Although I've gotten better deals on Amazon, these items have a faster ship time, so I lowered standards to save a couple of days. One of my greatest regrets! The way that looks is very sloppy.
This cake drum holds a two-tier cake well, and can easily be used for large events. In my opinion, the major disadvantage is that it leaves greasy marks after cleaning up the The good news is that it was clean looking and it did the job.
No need to worry about it being thin or flimsy. Only one thing I don't like is the way it's not wrapped with a single piece of foil or adhesive. It is matte on one side and only a cover on the other side. There are some things you should keep in mind, such as that it isn't grease proof.
As of yet, I have not tested it for a cake, but it appears to be OK. It's been a while since I used these boards, and I do miss the pretty, faint floral pattern on my old ones. These do not appear to be greasy but they look sturdy The proof is The answer will be revealed soon! The fact that both sides of the board are wrapped rather than only the top is very appealing to me. I'll let you know after I've used.
After placing the cake on the drum, the top layer separates from the rest of the board. I was looking forward to using these, but the issue has been that the top layer separates from the rest of the board. For the cake to stay where it is, I had to tape the top to the rest of the drum.
