In my workshop, I light sanded and finished the new fork with steel wool and olive oil. In contrast, the fork I had was worn smooth after years of use, so when the new fork arrived, it was not smooth like my old one. I love it! It feels good and has a great balance. I love this fork, which I now consider a fundamental part of my kitchen. I use it for food preparation, cooking, meat carving, etc.
I love these socks and the made in the USA label is worth it. As are the handles out of the box, they are raw walnuts, which I treated with several coats of butcher block conditioner before painting them. This protected them against water damage, and it brought out a lovely luster in.

I was looking for a straight bayonet style fork similar to the one in picture, but instead got a curved granny fork. returned tomorrow, as I really wanted a long bayonet 'cutlet' fork for turning meat, but paying a premium for a different fork that I didn't use is just too much for me.
It's similar to the cooking fork I purchased 20 years ago and I wanted to purchase a second one. Having looked in all of the conventional cooking stores, I was unable to find these items locally, so I went to Amazon. Fork identical to the one I have been using for the past 20 years Over a decade. There is only one comment, though. The wood handle appears to be dry, so owners should treat it with mineral oil until they get the finish they want. This could take weeks and then periodic oiling throughout the year until the wood takes on a nice finish and loses its dry feel. This fork is going to last me a long time!.
Honestly, I have no idea what I'm going to do. There is a wooden handle on the fork similar to that of a regular table fork. It seemed a bit smaller than I expected. I am speechless! I know my dad lost my mother's two-tined fork and it was a big disaster! We all treasure our granny forks which are an essential family heirloom for many of us. These are well made and identical to our granny forks. Then it's ready to use. All it needs is a quick sanding and a little oil on the handle.
