Questions & Answers

What are the exact dimensions of each slot? I have a number of extra-curricular activities that I would like to share with you. I'm not sure if my knives will fit in the slots because they're quite wide. ?

Although there is a number two. There are three 1" slots in a 25" slot. The Shun block has three 2.75" slots and a couple of 2" slots. Because the Shun block has 25" slots, I believe it is a better choice for large knives.

Is this one compatible with the Shun TDM0743?

The dimensions of the Shun TDM0743 blade are listed as 2. 4" x 7". The slot with the most space is number two. It'll fit in that one because it's 5" tall. I understand that the tsuchime finished blades are a little thicker than most, but they fit perfectly with my heavier blades.

Is there a list of knives that the manufacturer suggests you use in each slot? I received this as a gift and am stumped as to which knives to purchase to fill it. ?

I don't believe there is a prescriptive list; I was given a starter set of three knives, after which I chose this block and filled it with Shun knives over time. There are various sized slots. It appeals to my tastes.

Is this block big enough for my DM0705 9" classic bread knife?

It ought to be simple to do so. Because the block is angled from bottom to top, the top four knife slots have the most length, allowing knives with blades up to 10 inches long to be stored. Knives with blades up to 9 inches long can be stored in the middle, while knives with blades up to 8 inches long can be stored in the lower.

br>br>All of the knife slots should be 1/8 inch (. 125") wide, but it's more like. 177". This was something I was hoping to get for my Shun Pro 3. A 6-piece knife set is included in the set. Everything is in order
5/5

This block had been on my wish list for over a year until I became so frustrated with my current knife block's inability to hold all of my knives that I took a chance and ordered it; I was apprehensive about using my Wusthof- Based on some of the other reviews, Trident knives would be a good fit in this block. The good news is that, despite being designed for knives from another manufacturer, this block fits my Wusthof knives perfectly, including the kitchen shears, which fit snugly into the slot provided after four months of use. In fact, because the slots are angled downward, all of the knives stay firmly in place, despite the fact that the knives are narrower and shorter than the various slots. My largest knife is a 9" chef's knife that is 1 7/8" wide at its widest point, and it fits into 5 slots, including some of the shorter slots (counting from the bottom, it fits into the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rows). The longest blade that appears to fit into the block has 12" of actual storage space, according to my calculations. I have this block under my cabinets, which are 17" above the counter, with the narrow side flush against the wall, and there is plenty of clearance; Knife handles are essentially free of the cabinet when inserted and removed because the block extends far enough out. Furthermore, the block is appealing, sturdy, and well-made. This product has exceeded my expectations, and I would strongly recommend it.

Shun is always a good choice
5/5

If you're a fan of Shun cutlery, you won't be disappointed with this knife block. It's made of bamboo that's been cut into sections, so it's a strong and water-resistant material. Consider this: most bamboo grows in extremely wet environments, and the wood is resistant to rot and decay. Having said that, if you take care of your Shun products, this knife block will last you a long time. Also, the knife block has enough slots for a great knife portfolio with plenty of versatility and no slots on knives you won't use. This is a fantastic product that I wholeheartedly endorse.

The price is high, but the quality is excellent
4/5

If it weren't for the $59. 00 price tag, it would be a great deal. 95 I'd rate it a five out of five. It's made out of solid blocks of bamboo that have been glued together. This makes it denser than maple or oak and prevents it from absorbing water, which is a great feature for a knife block. Because this is a heavy block, it does not slide around on the counter, which is a good thing. Another great feature is that the slots are sideways, so you don't have to stick your knife's sharp edge up in them like you do with blocks with vertical slots. If you have a vertical slot knife block and don't know how to properly insert your knives, do so with the edge facing up. Putting them in with the edge down will dull the edge over time, so do so with the edge facing up. It doesn't matter when you have horizontal slots like this one. This block accepts knives from other brands, including my Kyocera Kyotop Damascus ceramics and others, in addition to my Shun Reserve knives. br>br>One last feature that I like is that there are no markings on the front under the slot for kitchen shears, which is a common occurrence. The Shun emblem is branded into the wood on the one I received, demonstrating that it is a Shun. On the Shun website, there are pictures of blocks with this branded emblem.

Meh
5/5

I didn't like this block (from 3 to 5) at first, but now I like it a lot. Back in 2014, I purchased this block as well as a few knives. October 2020 has arrived. While at least one narrow slot for a small utility knife would have been nice, the block has held up remarkably well and still looks as good as it did when I bought it. It has some knives in it, such as the Shun vegetable knife and the 8: Both the chef's knife and the hone work flawlessly (but that's almost a given). The design is fantastic, and if the need arises, I would purchase another. br>br>After leaving my first review, the manufacturer requested that I change my rating. And I refused because I believed it deserved the rating I gave it at the time because it was good but not great, and I don't like being told what to do. haha. Anyway, after using it a few times in the last few years, I remembered this review and decided to update it after 6 years with the item. I've included a link to my original review below for those who want to read it. The slots, on the other hand, aren't particularly large. I'd like to add a small Shun pairing knife to this block, but there aren't any slots narrow enough. Aside from that, everything is fine.

There are slots in the box
5/5

Don't want to buy a pre-selected set of kitchen knives? You can get this one for a reasonable price. br>br>Fits up to a massive 7" Shun "Asian. " "br>br>It has two slots for huge knives, three slots for medium to large knives, four slots for small to medium knives, and one slot for a honing tool.
