Because there is a 4 inch slot as well as a slot for a very large cleaver, you can certainly do so. So nothing to be concerned about.
My 10" Victorinox chefs knife fits in the large slot on the top, but it is too wide to fit in the second from the top/right slot.
This block is well-made and functional. The scheers slot is especially well-liked.

The wood is appealing, and it appears to be of good quality. It should last for a long time. I looked everywhere on this site and the internet for the slot widths for each of the ten slots, but I couldn't find anything. We have a variety of knives (mostly Henckels) from years of cooking, and they come in a variety of sizes, so I took a chance that this block would work, and it did. I've measured the slots on the block we received (top to bottom) for those interested in purchasing it: 3 3/8", 2", 1 1/4" (slot with square section), 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/2", 1 1/8", 7/8", 7/8". I have no idea how accurate the block construction is, so I can't guarantee that every block made will have the same slot widths as ours.
This block appears to be in good condition, holds as many knives as most kitchens require, has a small footprint, and appears to be extremely durable, so it checks all of the boxes. There is, however, one caveat: length. The cleaver slot at the top can hold up to ten knives. 5" long (seriously, who uses cleavers that long? ), the slots beneath it are almost exactly 10" wide, and a knife measuring 26 cm will just fit. The top row has a 7" limit, while the bottom row has a 7" limit. Many butcher knives, carving knives, cimiters, chef's knives, and honing steels, as well as some bread knives, are ten inches or longer. My 11" butcher knife barely fits in the cleaver slot, but it protrudes from the bottom of the block, not far enough to pierce the underlying counter top, but far enough to cut yourself if you reach under the back of the block carelessly. So I'll give you five stars if you don't have or want any knives or steels larger than ten inches. It would be ideal if you had, for example, 9"- ten inch steelbr>eight inch steelbr>eight inch steelbr>eight inch steelbr a ten-inch chef's knifebr>a nine-inch bread knifebr>a five-inch utility knifebr>a three-inch utility knifebr>a three-inch utility knifebr>a three-inch utility knifebr>a 5" paring knifebr>This is a nice minimalist set, and it fits in this block. Even if you include the cleaver and shears, you'll still have two medium-sized knives. Boning knives, filet knives, and whatever else can fit in the remaining slots. While this block couldn't hold all of my knives, I liked it so much that I bought another and put together a set similar to the one I described above as a gift. To summarize, it's a 5 star rating if you buy your knives to fit it, or if you're lucky enough that yours do. I'd prefer it if it were an inch longer and the cleaver slot was at the bottom rather than the top, but I can't complain for the price.
a knife that is wide The layout of the slots has been altered slightly. At the very top, there is a single large knife slot. Instead of the two slots shown in the picture, there are three small knife slots at the bottom. The second from the top slot is for santoku knives, and the slots below it are for bread knives. br>The wide knife slot may not be enough for a chinese chef knife or a real wide cleaver. The width of the slot is approximately 87mm (3. 42inch).
This is unusable due to the adhesive glue used on the sticker they applied to the wood. On the back of the wood, they've placed a sticker. Nothing will be able to get rid of the adhesive. I tried everything from rubbing alcohol to scrubbing to chemical cleaners. It's absurd that they'd include this. It was responsible for the block's demise all by itself.
It's difficult to find a block that doesn't have slots for steak knives, so I was relieved to find one that fit my needs. HENCKELS Knife Block, Knife Storage, 11-Inch HENCKELS Hardwood Knife Block, Knife Storage, 11-Inch HENCKELS slot: I half expected a piece of junk due to the low price compared to similar looking blocks. Instead, I got a high-quality, well-made one that I'm proud to display on my counter. The total amount The slots aren't quite wide enough to accommodate my growing collection of Global knives. However, I'm sure I'll be able to pull it off. The use of a large strip of EXTREME glue on the label is my only gripe. I used a variety of cleaners to try to get it off the wood, hoping against hope that the finish would not be harmed. "Goo Gone" worked out in the end. It left a small stain on the carpet. Fortunately, it's hidden on the back, where I won't see it.
The product itself has a solid feel to it, as I would expect from a Zwilling product. It arrived quickly, and the package appeared to be in good condition. However, once I opened it, I started having problems: I'm not sure who had the bright idea to stick the sticker to the wood with that kind of adhesive, but removing it left a large, ugly, sticky spot on the back of the block. To avoid scratching it, I scraped what I could off with the end of an unsharpened pencil, but the type of adhesive shouldn't have been used in the first place and is nearly impossible to remove completely (I haven't tried Goo Gone because I plan on returning the item, so it's pointless). br>br>Another issue is that, aside from the cleaver slot, there is only one slot large enough for a good-sized knife. I chose this block for two reasons: 1) it was on sale, and 2) it had a large cleaver slot where I could store my Kramer. As you can see in the photos, I was able to squeeze the Kramer and my 7-year-old daughter into the space available. inch santoku (from Cangshan, which is surprisingly good for the price), but my 6-inch santoku (from Cangshan, which is surprisingly good for the price), but my 6-inch santoku (from Cang Ferrum couldn't find a slot because he was an inch. This may not be an issue for you if you have thinner knives, but I need something with wider slots. Furthermore, while I couldn't find the exact dimensions for each slot on Zwilling's website, the Wusthof blocks sold at a nearby kitchen store have plenty of wide slots (at least four per block, though most are sub-par). The Kramer could not fit in the 70$ blocks because the slot was too narrow. I'm disappointed by how limited this block is, but the build quality is excellent. I can recommend this block if you don't have many knives or have thinner knives than I do; otherwise, I would recommend looking elsewhere (or at Zwilling's more expensive models).
