A warped griddle that came out of the box It would not be replaced by the seller
3/5

I found the griddle to be the best size for the 16" Camp Chef grill. Authentic cast iron, it is quite Those griddles are nonstick in the original sense when they are correctly season. The 16" x 24" model I purchased is for a large group outing. I already have two of the smaller models. I was able to cook it , but it wobbled after I placed it on the grill. It was placed on a flat countertop after I removed it from the grill. Yeah, I guess. From the moment I opened the package, it was warped. I immediately contacted this seller (Outdoor Cooking) and we tried to resolve the issue. A replacement and shipping label were requested. I contacted the company for the order number and the defect. Yes, I wouldn't do it without photos or a video showing the defect. Difficult to prove a defect on a 24 pound griddle with a small warp at 1/8" in diameter. When I bought items and returned them when I no longer needed them, did Outdoor Cooking think I was saving money for my kids' future college tuition? In an effort to make things simple for everyone, I tried to simplify the process. Rather than return the product, I just notified Amazon that the product was defective. Amazon immediately sent me a return label. The new one I bought is brand new. Warped griddle was sent back for repair. The process is a little more involved for Amazon, Outdoor Cooking, and the customer, but the end result is less hassle. An outdoor grill is a great way to cook outside How did you think you were going to do that? Why do you ship occasional defective products and refuse to replace them? When your kids are ill, how could you afford to pay for their tuition? I received the new griddle today. A few times I have used it. As others have posted, there is a crack in the middle of this heavy piece of metal. We have received a third griddle. It was warped and rocked back and forth on a flat countertop again

I returned it to Amazon without any problems. Please re-read The second warped part was ordered to be replaced In the outfield Here's the link Griddle in a box. The order is going to be delivered today, and we are After receiving Amazon's apology email, I discovered that it will take 1 to 3 more days for the item to arrive. Those actions don't help us in any way. Camp Chef makes a decent grill, so it's a good thing. Cast iron cookware companies have a disastrous reputation if they are in just the cast iron cookware business. It's time for you to get your act together, It is a good idea to invest in cast iron that will It is not the right way to do it. It is a reflection on the seller that the one star is there. Griddle is great and works well even over a campfire. Can be used without the need to heat it up.

Instead of buying stainless steel, I should have bought aluminum
5/5

My first experience with cast iron was when I was a child. Be sure to read about using it and the care that should be taken. The seasoning and cleaning videos I watched were quite informative. It was a relief to save the money over buying the great looking stainless griddle and use this one instead. When seasoned with Crisco, the dish turns into a sticky mess. Yes, I heated the wood first, applied a light coat, etc. I used 350 degrees as my temperature. In the end, my time is more valuable than the time and effort it will take to carry this out. This object is very heavy to handle (I'm 6'5", very powerful) and it is just a pain to handle. When I actually make a meal with it, I will update the post. I figure I'll burn off the Crisco on the barbeque, clean it up (again), and season it with Canola oil this time. I know you cast iron folks are probably thinking, "Well, he just doesn't know how to use it". I agree with you, but my point is that I dislike being forced to wait this long just to finally prepare something to eat. This cast iron cookware was a real disappointment for me, and you will be too unless you already cook A very high quality product, it looks stunning, it has the great full width grease tray on the smooth side, the grill ridges on the steak side are great, in short, everything about it is great. The trouble is, it is so much work! I think the effort is too great for the reward. Now, I'm back after being away for awhile. I burned off the remaining Crisco on the barbeque for about an hour at 400 degrees. I like it better now, it's The bacon I got from the store did a perfect job when I grilled it with Canola oil. So. Things are getting easier for me. I'm starting to like it. I just had to get used to it in the beginning. The learning curve is going to be worth it and people who swear by cast iron cookware probably have gone through this process as well? In my opinion, we would not have been as satisfied with the cooking results on a stainless steel griddle. I'm very pleased with my purchase now it's very even, just let it warm up a bit first. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. This grill's price was very good and it will fit perfectly in the storage area I found when not in use. By the way, I am using this on a 5 burner stainless steel gas barbecue. Now I can grill breakfast on the grill all the time outside due to this versatility. A fried egg, bacon, hashbrowns and sausage accompanied the pancakes. There is a lot of interest in our Now that I have purchased it, I am glad I did.

It's nice to have a griddle like this
4/5

It's nice to have a griddle like this. It holds heat for a very long time and is very solid. The top covers my stovetop so I can turn on all four burners and cook all over the top once it reaches a comfortable temperature. Since cast iron has a poor heat conductivity, that middle area is rarely as hot as the burners, however, it is thick enough that once it has been heated nicely, the middle will be hot enough to easily cook eggs. In situations where things like steak need to be seared, you should keep them in areas directly above the burner. In my view, the cons (and, to be fair, they are quite large) are The first is There is no such thing as a 16x24 inch griddle. Rather, it's in the 15- to 20- range Five minute 23- While I know this doesn't seem like much, I bought it specifically after seeing it would fit over my stove's range caps that measured 16x24 inches. However, it now doesn't fit over them like I had hoped. I likely would have purchased another griddle if I knew it would not fit based on the incorrect measurements. There are two There is no smooth surface on the griddle. when it was preseasoned, the surface was so rough that paper towels would shred when you cleaned The problem has since been fixed by putting down a thick layer of seasoning with flaxseed oil, but the surface is still rough and things stick to it In order to fix it, I'm going to have to sand down the griddle's side. There's not much to do about it during manufacture, which makes it annoying. Even though the roughness alone would not have dissuaded me from purchasing, I do wish I had known what I was getting myself into, as far as elbow pain is concerned There needs to be grease to fix it. Although I have used this griddle multiple times per week since purchasing it, generally, I am satisfied with This is a great little unit for what it does, and even though it doesn't fit over my range caps, it sits on top of them well enough for me to be able to turn off one and turn on all four. There is a lot of thickness and sturdiness to this.
