Questions & Answers

Is it flat or grooved on the underside?

Unlike a panini press, the underside of this is flat rather than grooved. I like it a lot and use it for toasted cheese and other toasted sandwiches. To clean the bottom, all you have to do is wipe it clean. Cleaning is a breeze.

I assembled the press, and the handle is extremely loose, as many of the low-star reviewers have noted. Is this how it's supposed to look?

When I called Lodge Customer Service, the representative was extremely pleasant and stated that he is frequently asked this question. A flathead screwdriver and a pair of pliers are required. It took me a long time to get it tight enough with the tools (I'm giving it as a gift and wanted it assembled), but I finally did, and it should not be loose at all. A 3/4-inch flathead screw was used for this project.

What is the weight of the object?

It is 2 pounds and 13 ounces in weight.

Use it for something else! Unfortunately, I had to stop eating bacon
5/5

Both of them are now door stops for me! They work better than any other product I've tried! They don't scratch the carpet, and they don't stub my toes. They easily hold my solid wood door open when the crosswind picks up!.

Hardware is made of stainless steel and is well-fitting
5/5

I bought it to cook bacon because I don't like how it curls up when it cooks. I was prepared to purchase replacement hardware from the store if necessary (it would have cost about a dollar), but it was not required. The included hardware is stainless steel and works well; I believe the issue is that people believe the nuts should go on smoothly - this is not the case. That is not the case. Consider the nuts to be lock nuts; they are corse threaded and do not go on smoothly (you must be careful not to cross thread them), which is done on purpose to keep them secure and not loosen over time. You will need a wrench or crescent (along with a flat blade screwdruiver) to tighten them; it will take some effort and can be awkward (due to the handle); you will also need a good screwdriver that fills the slot since it will take some time br>br>The bottom isn't completely smooth, but it is flat and has the texture of a cast iron skillet - The surface was a little rough, but that's to be expected from a cast iron product, and it weighed 2. 74 lbs. It has a good weight to it, which ensures long life and keeps the food down on the pan. Although it comes pre-seasoned (as with any cast iron product), you will need to keep it seasoned. seasoned, but unless you want to use it without first washing it, you'll need to season it on a regular basis (a simple task), which they recommend doing after each use - You can, however, make your own judgment. br>br>Overall, this does the job I wanted it to do and will last a lifetime (like my cast iron pans). The handle stays cool during my use (it may get too hot if you leave it on a high heat for an extended period of time - Then use a pot holder) and it works just fine. All of your pressing requirements will be met (pun intended).

I bought it for a specific purpose, and it fulfills my expectations
5/5

This flat-footed The bottomed press is marketed as a way to prevent bacon curling, among other things. Because the size of this press is too small to cover strips of bacon, as some reviewers pointed out, I'm not sure it's the best use of it. I bought it, however, for a specific purpose: to make Cuban sandwiches by pressing and grilling them While I have a nice panini press that gets a lot of use, it has elevated grill sections, which means it doesn't press the entire sandwich down like a Cuban sandwich should. Ensure that all of the bread is pressed down and grilled until it is crisp. I had been stacking a couple of heavy sauce pans on top of a sandwich in a skillet, but it was too shaky. This product solves the problem. It fits perfectly on top and makes pressing down on it while it heats up a breeze. This may be the only time I use it, but I love Cuban sandwiches and eat them frequently, so it will be utilized frequently. br>br>Some reviewers had trouble attaching the handle to the press, citing screws that were either difficult to attach or protruded too far from the bottom of the press. I didn't have any of those problems; the handle went on easily enough, and the screw heads didn't protrude. It appears to be reasonably stable, with no signs of sway. Other reviewers mentioned rust; I don't think any rust has formed yet, as I've only used it twice, but I'll keep it wiped off to avoid this issue. This press has so far performed exactly as I had hoped. And, contrary to what some buyers claimed, the handle did not become too hot to hold, and no pot holder was required. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I love
5/5

Despite reading reviews claiming that some people had difficulty connecting the handle, I am 76 years old and had no issues. In fact, simply tightening the handle by hand was enough to stop it from moving. I did, however, tighten it with a screwdriver and pliers, as instructed in the instructions (which can be found on the package once the item is removed). Rust was not an issue because it had been seasoned as recommended. The handle is black rather than chrome, as shown in the photo. I really like how the press works and how small it is.

Bacon and smash burgers are a match made in heaven
5/5

On the Blackstone Grill, it's fantastic for burgers and bacon. I used it a lot and cleaned it in the same way that I cleaned my cast iron skillets and Blackstone. Despite the advertisement, the handle does get very hot after a while of use; I keep a small towel handy and it's never a problem. All in all, a fantastic product.

Cooking on the grill has never been easier with this tool
5/5

I enjoy grilling and assumed that all I needed to cook on one was a spatula. Then I remembered the grill from when I was a kid in my old building. The cooks used a grill press similar to this one all of the time. I've figured it out. This makes hamburgers, steaks, fish, and hot dogs taste better and cook more evenly. There will be no more bloated meat or unevenly cooked fish. I have no idea what I would have done without it.

Grill press with a strong foundation
4/5

The hardware would not fit in one of the handle mounting holes because it had not been bored out from the factory. It was slag-filled to the brim. Fortunately, I work in an auto repair shop and enjoy breaking things. That problem was solved in a lickety split with my air drill and a carbide bit. br>I bought this primarily to make smashburgers at home and to keep bacon from curling up. br>br>Once I got it put together, it feels pretty sturdy. I used a 3/8" combination wrench and a large flathead screwdriver, as well as a few small locking washers (recommended). br>br>We'll see how it holds up. Like a cast iron pan, I imagine it will last a lifetime if properly cared for.

It is well worth the effort
4/5

This grill press gets a lot of use from me. It appears to be the appropriate weight, though there are times when I wish it were a little larger. I like my grilled cheese sandwiches smashed, and this one does an excellent job of it. My mother used to make grilled cheese with an old clothes iron, but this one works better and is easier to clean up. It works well with burgers and other foods as well.
