Made of cast aluminum, this pot has a tall, thin shape. An internal funnel is formed by a die and mesh is added. During manufacturing, a silicone gasket with hole punched mesh was used on top of the pot. It works very well for me, to be honest. In the bottom pot, the inside will stain a brownish gold color. Several users reported that the surface was tarnished. Aluminum can oxidize without rusting, so when found with tarnish it appears oxidized. A considerable amount of water from the steamed coffee cools and drips back to the bottom of the pot after being steamed. To speed up the cooling process, run the pot under cold water to empty everything once you are done with it. You should be aware that the coffee grinds might still be hot when doing this. It appears that the safety valve is made of pure copper, not brass, and that either discoloration from use or wear may be responsible.
