Questions & Answers

Prior to brewing the coffee over night, I covered the top of the receptacle with clear cling wrap to prevent it from getting too warm. Is that okay?

It's not necessary for me to do that If you do not live with a pest control company, nothing can get into it to taint your coffee! always cover mine with a paper plate out of habit.

It does not seem as if this toddy maker has much to offer. Could you tell me how much a liter is? More or less?

You will need 7 cups of water if you follow the directions. Karafs are approximately the size of a 2 liter soda bottle, and can range from 7 inches tall to 8 inches in diameter. If I drink one cup of coffee per day using the recommended ratio of one part concentrate to three parts water, it lasts me two days There are 3 weeks left.

Do the filters have the ability to be reused? Does a filter last for a long time?

In fact, each filter can be used up to 10 times and kept for up to They have been used by me for longer and on a more regular basis than the 3 month period and have never given me any problems. My one requirement is that I rinse it well after each use, and then place it in a plastic baggie and keep it in the To avoid bacteria transfer, I don't let the filter sit around for more than the time it takes to brew and I don't let it touch food or the counter while brewing.

It is a flawed product, but it is probably the best that you can find
4/5

Let's just get something out of the way right away It ain't rocket science to brew a cold one. A combination of coffee, water, and to let it filter. The secret sauce is not secret. With the same amount of beans, water, and time, no brewer on the market can possibly produce "better tasting" cold brew than some other brewer. So why is there a market for these products? All we are trying to do is make life easier for you. With a coffee filter, you can accomplish the same results as any of these devices by putting your grounds and drinking water into a large container and then filtering the resulting liquid. As soon as you're ready, put the sieve in the lined one. rather tedious, and you might wind up with overflowing grounds on your hands if you do that. The goal of one of these brewer product lines is to make the process easier This will probably help keep the mess contained and make it less messy. After all that is said and done, let me talk about the system that I purchased to replace an OXO cold brew maker, which I found to be just a little bit less than terrible. (If you'd like to see my review there, you can do so here. Please note The price of Toddy is a bit lower at first. Please note It's possible Toddy's total cost of ownership is higher than other products. It's not possible to use an existing felt filter, so you have to purchase replacements. Depending on what you want, you can use a silver metal filter from OXO (which I usually used) or paper filters (which I found to be an instant clog). Please note Teddy plastic is much softer and thinner than regular plastic (it is much less durable). Please note The glass carafe of toddy's is a bit bigger. Please note I was a bit confused when I discovered that Teddy's bucket did not come with a lid. Luckily, it fit perfectly and I'm happy with it. Please note There are many advantages to Toddy's filter - its area of filtration is far larger than most I regularly experienced clogging of the OXO filter. Please note There is nothing you can do about the inadequate grommet design of OXO products as they leak all the time. The cork on Tommy's does not have that problem, but after you've tightened it up, make sure you give it a little twist. Please note With OXO, you simply turn a switch to release the coffee. The cork has to be pulled out of Toddy. It's just plain terrible that Toddy has to go through that. Please note I think Toddy will make cleanup a bit easier. Please note The quality of my coffee is every bit the same, but using the felt filter rather than the metal filter of the OXO filter, I'm getting much cleaner results with the Toddy How do you like the two of them best? Its switch release mechanism offers a somewhat better user experience and a sense of high quality in OXO. Although I'm very happy that I have control over whether the Toddy will leak or not, I'm not sure whether I'll be happy about that. am willing to assume control of that. Tom Doody wins by a long shot. The following tips and observations may be helpful to you *B*) When putting the filter in, you need to place the cork first. It is possible that the cork will push the filter up and out of position if the filter is not positioned properly. A lot of grounds will end up in your finished coffee if this happens. A) You'll have to press the filter into place around its perimeter when placing it. In other words, if you are looking at the filter through it, the center should be convex instead of concave. (In other words, it should be arcing over the cork rather than downwards appears to help keep it my theory as to why it became dislodged the one time that *)
*) After you've drained the coffee, tilt the bucket approximately a few times over the carafe after picking it up straight. As a result, there is a design flaw that sees a small amount of coffee pooled where the cork plug goes into the hole. While carrying the bucket to the sink, I noticed this the first time I brewed. As I removed the bucket, coffee leaked all over my floor. -D) When you're not using the filter, you should put it in the freezer. The ice is frozen so hard that it becomes rock-hard. Try to make it work by soaking it in water for five minutes before you begin doing A) The instructions for Toddy and OXO both say to make a concentrate, but I have never been able to make a great cup of coffee from one. If you are brewing at full strength, you should do so. (12 is my preference. The water in the water tower For cold brew coffee, this is the ratio of coffee to water. 3) You can also apply a "hot bloom", following it up with the remaining water in your formula, cold. Pour a small amount of hot water on the grounds first to help them bloom, then leave it for a few minutes. It's nice to have a 20-cent coin It takes 24 hours to brew total. Does this compare to using a jar and In a big way, yes, but not by much. There are not many good options on the market at the moment, but I believe it's the best system currently on the market. It is hard to conceal the fact that Teddy's design is very old. A few adjustments to the company's product could result in an actual winner instead of just something that ticks every box. I recommend it with reservations, but overall I find it a satisfying read.

You can just use a French press
3/5

This is the first coffee maker I have purchased since I've used a French Press to make cold brew for some time. I figure this will be a lot easier and I can create a greater batch In addition to being a disappointment, it is also way harder to clean than a French press. I don't know what the purpose of that little plug in the bottom of it is, but the design is completely weird in my opinion. Because of this, if you are not careful, it will leak, and removing the plug can be cumbersome and somewhat difficult. A handle makes it easier to remove the plug, but the handle can break and cause a MASSIVE mess (luckily it I would have thought that the bottom of the bottle would have a knob that could be turned to allow the liquid to flow into and out, but the price is too low. The second problem is that this device is a If you shake the filter out, the grounds will often fall in the trash can with the filter itself. Not only do the grounds not readily come out of the basin, but the filter often falls into the trash with them. In addition, the little edge points on the bottom of this thing are quite annoying to clean because they literally poke you when you're holding it and trying to There was a glaring oversight when it comes to the last problem, and it seems so simple. Because the basin is white, it is susceptible to becoming stained and dark with coffee grounds if you do not scrub it after each use. I believe this product is a complete joke for the price and for the quality it should be a much better one. The bottom should be black plastic, with a knob rather than a plug, the edges should be rounded so there is no pain, and there should be a handle that won't break and cause the basin to smash to the ground if it lands on its side. I think they should redesign this to make it more affordable, especially for the price. Just use a French press instead and save yourself the headache, time, and money.

I'm in the mood for some pisses
5/5

The system I use is great. The cold makes it difficult for you to move around It's much easier to brew coffee this way. Like this system, you do not need to spend a lot of money. Any container that I had at hand, then strained the coffee through a sieve, was what I used to do. There was no doubt that it was messy, as a lot of grounds got into the Taking advantage of this system makes cleaning up much easier, and the spongy filter keeps all the grounds out, even the tiny The instructions they give for making the toddy are not exactly what I do. A better way to do it The spongy filter should be wetted and placed in place before coarsely grinding 12 ounces. You can make a toddy using coffee in a Once the grounds are wet, slowly pour one quart of filtered water over them. Stirring will ruin your food. 30 minutes is a good amount of time to let that sit. The coffee is crusty because it has developed a crust at the top. Immediately after the 30 minutes is over, slowly pour another quart of filtered water over the plant. Be respectful of the grounds and don't disturb them. When they start foaming, they'll be nice and creamy- That's what they call the "bloom. " After cold brewing overnight, the coffee is ready to drink. In order to prevent dust and other debris from blowing in, I put a plate over top. It is important to allow it to soak for that 30 minutes so that when the next quart of water is added, the grounds can more readily absorb the water and create a It's finally time to say goodbye to crusty, unsoaked beans!.
