Questions & Answers

Is this product approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for water testing?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not "approve" products in the traditional sense of the word. They only function as a regulatory body. The approved methods for water testing, such as their standard pH method of 150, are listed below. It is the customer's responsibility to 1) choose the appropriate method (e.g. 2) Verify that the instrument meets the apparatus requirements of the aforementioned method (e.g., standard pH, inline pH, soil pH, etc.). This pH electrode is not based on any specific method of operation. It can be used for a variety of ASTM and EPA procedures and methods. The EPA method 150, for example. 1 describes how pH is measured in wastewater on a regular basis. If your team's primary task is soil pH analysis, the EPA 150 should be used. It's possible that 1 isn't the best answer.

Is there a warranty on this product?

Yes. However, be aware. Mine arrived dead, cost more than $20 for the four batteries it required, and only lasted a month. The whole thing is a waste of time. Apera is a good choice. You'll appreciate it.

Why are there so many negative reviews?

I purchased two of them and promptly returned both of them. The battery connections on both were poor; they didn't calibrate correctly, the screen froze, and the readings were inconsistent. version that isn't good I finally settled on the Apera PH20. It's the most accurate ph meter I've ever owned in the last 15 years, and it keeps its calibration for weeks. I hope this has been of assistance.

It was not durable enough to be used on a regular basis
3/5

NO MANUAL CALIBRATION IS REQUIRED! For the first three months, it worked perfectly. I mean, fantastic! You can have it all: quick, precise, and so on. It was kept in a storage solution at all times. It was only used to check the nutrient content of our tomatoes and peppers' water. br>br>The auto calibrate stopped working after three months. I was 2 points off (if it says 6) on this one. It was actually 6 instead of 0. 2) I kept going, and now I'm off by a factor of two. 5 and the bottom cover, or "cup," as you may call it, became white and cracked. br>br>The auto calibrate still says "Done," as if it's doing its job, but it isn't. br>br>I'd pass on this one because of the price! br>br>Perhaps I was so disappointed because it appears to be so well built: it's really sturdy, has great seals, and so on. br>br>I have to do industrial boiler water testing for my workplace on a daily basis. Because PH is such an important measurement, I persuaded our buyer to buy two of these when ours was dropped and broken at work. They each lasted about a month before they stopped calibrating themselves. As a result, I now appear to be a moron for recommending these. Perhaps the newer model is superior, but this one is not worth the plastic it is constructed of. br>br>Sorry, Oakton, but you were off the mark with this one.

It's good, but an older version might be a little better
4/5

I had an older version and needed a newer one for some anthocyanin research. This is a good unit with a slight increase in visibility. It does, however, show the pH and temperature. To ensure that it turns on, take out the batteries and replace them. The new cap is a little better than the old one, and it has a level for filling calibration fluids. The old one's calibration was simple and straightforward: 4, 7, and 10 pH. It's a little more difficult this time. Never truly tells you it's finished. It also wouldn't go above pH 9 when calibrated at pH 10. It wouldn't go below 4 at 8, and it wouldn't go below 8 at 4. 1 As a result, the calibration would be a source of concern for me. This was not present in the previous version. br>br>I've used them in succession and they appear to be consistent with /- 0,1 pH. br>br>Overall, this is a good product, but there isn't much of a difference between it and the older one, and the calibration issue is a concern.

According to the manufacturer, the product should be discarded after 6 to 12 months
3/5

I've had pH meters for a long time and was pleased with this one for the first ten months or so. I began to have issues with readings and couldn't get the auto calibration function to work as it had in the past, so I contacted Oakton, the manufacturer. br>br>Turns out my pH electrode is bad, which isn't surprising given that they all wear out over time and can usually be replaced for $10 - $15. $30. When I asked for the part number for a replacement probe, they told me there was no way to get one and that pH probes are only good for 6 to 12 months. He looked up my serial number and informed me that it had been manufactured for 18 months and that it had "had a very long useful life. " br>br>I bought this to replace the $15 pens I was using, but it didn't seem to work any better. The buttons are also beginning to wear out, though they are still functional. It was a nice meter while it worked, but I don't expect to spend $80 on a tool that will be obsolete in "6 to 12 months. " br>br>Avoid this unless you don't mind spending $80 at least once a year, if not more frequently, to replace the entire thing.

VERY let down
3/5

UPDATE: It's been nearly two weeks since I left the comment below, and no one has responded. I have the impression that the quality of customer service is rapidly deteriorating. This was my first review. br>I will be honest, I love these meters but this is the second time I've received one that has issues. Yes, they sent me another one the first time and everything worked out, but that's not the point. I ordered this because it is a reliable brand and it was/is an emergency I needed it and I still don't have it. They sent me a meter with completely dead batteries either that or the meter is broken, I have the same exact meter and I love it, I.

It's quite effective
5/5

After each use, the following information is updated: I'm happy with the device; it's been performing admirably for quite some time. The replacement went without a hitch. Rep said Amazon isn't the best place to get replacements and that mine came from a lab supply company, Cole Parmer if memory serves me correctly. I'm happy with how everything turned out. br>br>Update: The manufacturer has been contacted, and the device is being replaced; we'll see how that goes. br>br>Doesn't read accurately. The pH level that should be expected is 5. 4 out of 5 stars Investigate with more advanced technology. Recalibrate and remeasure the situation. Do I have faith in this? Or perhaps the known value plus the $2000 in equipment? I'm going to say this thing isn't worth anything.

A fantastic PH meter! It accurately calibrates and reads! This is a fantastic PH meter for hydroponics! I went with the "as new" option and saved nearly $20
5/5

The packaging was now described as damaged in the description. When I got my meter (the next day! ), I was ecstatic. ) I was pleased with the packaging. The cap, however, had vanished. This made me a little sad. I couldn't be happier with how well the meter worked. If you do any type of indoor gardening, you understand the value of a good PH meter. Those $11 or $20 meters are a waste of money. They don't last long, and after just a few uses, the calibration can become all messed up. As a result, this PH meter is fantastic. It calibrates and reads flawlessly. I also use a PH test kit with a liquid test solution as a backup. That way, I can be certain that my PH meter is functioning properly. This is a meter I strongly suggest. I didn't get the cap, but I did get a $20 discount. There are no issues. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, this meter is a great option. Blue Labs is my first choice for PH and PPM meters, but they'll set you back around $100. In comparison, this meter comes in second place and has a lot of useful features. Friendships are growing!.
