Questions & Answers

Are these made in the United States?

Ferrell is made in the USA and might seem to be better made, but not mine! It is wobbly and had to be glued and I do not think that will help it in the long run.

What is the BPA content of this brush?

A BPA-free version of this item is not available.

The ferrules are made of stainless steel, so does it prevent rust?

I have never had rust on my car

What did I do when I put the bristles in the dishwasher and they separated?

Generally, you shouldn't put the brushes in the dishwasher, but if they get really wet, you can try to reshape them and let them dry, and if one or two bristles can't be tamed, clip them.

Pastry Brush of the Highest Quality
5/5

Model #60015 1 of the Ateco company has been used by me for some time. It has been a couple of months now since I purchased this pastry brush, and I am highly satisfied with the results and the A recommendation from Cook's Illustrated America's Test Kitchen led me to purchase this book. Brushing butter over delicate doughs is all it's used for, including brushing my own hair with it. It is best used with filo dough, the most delicate of all the doughs. This gadget doesn't get in the way of the dough or tear it. My experience with this brush has been by far the best I've had. As well as an OXO Good Grips silicone brush, I have a MAC water bottle. When it comes to heavy sauces, I prefer it, but I dislike it when it comes to brushing butter on The reason I picked up the Ateco pastry brush was exactly for this reason. The two types of brushes are great for different tasks. I recommend having both on hand. As described in the pictures, the Ateco 60015 brush I received is just like the picture. A tea brush with Ateco 60015 on the handle comes with a natural bristle and is made in the U. S. Stainless steel is written on the metal. No indication is provided as to what kind of bristles are in the brush. Several of my brushes have pig bristles and horse hair, but the bristles of my horse hair brush are softer than those of Nevertheless, this brush is of very high quality, and I am confident I will use it for years to come.

There are reviews all over the internet
3/5

A 1" white bristle one has just been delivered to me. They're just like the ones I used to use at my pizzeria to brush garlic butter on the pizza. At first I was a little confused when I saw all the different reviews. Not sure if this will help, but here it The product is made in the United States. The reviews I read seemed to have a lot of shedding because some appeared to be made in China. The one in this picture was made in the USA and does not shed. (They may drop a bristle every now and then when you use them The raw wood underneath was not coated, as claimed in many reviews. Having said that, I prefer to use a coating that is food safe, so I treat all my wood utensils with an oil/beeswax blend - it keeps the wood conditioned without having to worry about As we speak of toxic chemicals, I would like to bring up the last point regarding the smell, which some reviews mention. When I had soaked it in very hot water, I read those reviews, and I was not expecting to smell it. There is a chemical smell when dry cleaning. What the heck. Basically, I used dish soap to wash it, soaked it in vinegar and baking soda, and I still have it in water that I'm changing out every so often with hot water until it is smell free. The reason why the stars are so low is because I really want a natural brush, so I'll keep working until it is 100 percent Since silicone brushes are basically only good for basting thick sauces, I hate them. Perhaps you should pass this up if it doesn't matter much to you. In the case of a bristle brush, maybe you can make it work with the smell remediation, but I wouldn't use it until the smell was gone before using it on food.

Skipping this bothers me a lot

What do they mean by natural? Do they mean right off of an animal's There's nothing worse than the smell of this thing! I smell like a nasty stink bomb. My head was spinning a little when I read that. I don't even mind that the bristles fall off like my hair. There's no way to go with that. As a 15 year old, you expect a lot better quality and that's what disappoints me. It will be returned to me and I will not recommend anyone purchase it. The silicon used for baking is no longer promoted as a 2021 quality, but Silicone will not be sold as such. Silicone is the way to go! I will not need to have it replaced and you can rely on it to do the You can get some good ones from GIR if you're willing to go the extra mile, but you can also shop around here too, I got a pink one for $3 that isn't from GIR but does the business.

Definitely a kitchen tool worth having in your arsenal
5/5

In response to a recommendation from "America's Test Kitchen", I bought this brush for my Greek dishes and specifically to use on the thin phyllo. This is a 5 star rating! The melted butter runs like silk on the delicate phyllo sheets, and I love brushing it on. As well as using it to dust flour away from my cut out cookies, I anticipated using it when I made my Christmas cookie cuts.

Is effective at what it is supposed to be
4/5

It works well for applying egg wash to pie crusts and has a soft enough consistency that the brush doesn't damage the embossed crust if used gently. I've used it a couple of times so far and it works well. The black color of the bristles made it easy for me to spot and remove the black bristle from the pie when it fell. As far as I can tell, everything is going well.

What a great brush! The only way to go is with white bristles! In the beginning, I was hesitant, but ended up buying two brushes, and I am so The Pastry station is on the left and the Grill station is on the right
5/5

You don't get better than this for a pastry brush it has the best of everything you're looking for. There is no comparison between the two brushes just because of the white bristles. This is a good size brush, and I find that the small ones take for ever to use, and since the white bristles care for themselves you don't have to worry about being gentle with it. When a light touch of butter needs to be painted on my fluffy buns, I don't have time to be very delicate, and I don't like to wait forever. This PERFECT brush is perfect as you can wash the butter across the surface with a light touch. The standard BBQ mops, brushes, etc. I stopped using as well, and I know that this brush will be perfect for that too, so my search for a good brush is over. I will never go searching for something else, this is it, the perfect brush for my needs. Unlike any other brush, White Bristle Brushes work better than any other, and I am delighted with their quality. Please also note that we offer fast shipping as well!.

There is no lacquer on the handle
3/5

I'll put one of those old Good Cook ones up The handle is made out of raw wood). However, this handle does not have a lacquer finish Exactly like my old one, it is made of raw wood so there is nothing I have to gain from buying one like this. A quick inspection showed that it appears to be in pretty good shape, except that some bristles came out when I pulled it through my fingers, which I do not recall happening with my old toothbrush.

You should use silicone because it's easier to clean
4/5

I like this, however, it does not feel clean to me. My favorite silicone one is the one I have. It is easy to tell when it is.
