In our dishwasher, we have repeatedly put these, even on the hottest setting, and they have never broken. It is also easy to wash them by hand. As a result, they would not have been purchased if they weren't BPA free. The packaging has been gone for several months so I am not sure about it, but I am sure that they are dishwasher safe and BPA-free. As an alternative to the natural bristol versions I have been using for years, I really prefer these types.
There are great brushes in my collection that are all black. My favorite uses for them include brushing water or butter on yeast doughs and pastries. Neither are odorish (and I know a thing or two about odors), and they go through the dishwasher without issue. There is a fine brush that I have, though I use it for brushing excess flour off certain doughs and pastries, and not very often. These silicone ones have the same sizes as the ones pictured here, but, as I previously stated, they're Amazon has other black books. You can also check them out.
