I received this today and immediately began practicing making cake pops in preparation for my daughter's third birthday in two weeks. So, as background, my three-year-old loves cake pops, and since I'm not a baker, I'd get her one every now and then when I went to Starbucks for an iced coffee. Because these items are exorbitantly priced at Starbucks (and elsewhere), I did some research online and discovered this. Let me tell you, it does what it says it will do. Simply plug it in, follow the instructions in the included recipe book, and make the cake pops! To avoid a mess, I put the dough in a zip lock bag and cut a corner. I've attached photos, and it's a breeze to make as long as you stick to the recipe (I made vanilla tonight). I've frozen over half of the cake balls I made with the baby cakes recipe so that I can experiment with them before the birthday. It's ridiculously simple and, more importantly, incredibly tasty.
Half a package of instant pudding and a boxed cake mix (as directed). This results in a thicker batter, which allows for better sphere formation. If it's too full and there's a seam, I'll use scissors to cut it off. The machine becomes extremely hot! br>br> I'll unplug it after the first batch and empty and refill it before plugging it back in to cook the second batch. Carry on with the rest of the batches in the same manner. br>br>I'll lightly oil the pan at first (wipe each well with a napkin dipped in oil) and then only when it seems to stick. I don't always need to lubricate the joints in between. It appears to be dependent on the cake batter I'm using at the time, as well as the temperature. br>br>I hope these hints will assist you in creating delicious and attractive cake pops. I like the flavor because it's not as sweet as traditional cake pops, and it's also very quick to make once you get the hang of it.
So, what was I thinking when I purchased it? Never underestimate the persuasion power of a 12-year-old girl who enjoys baking for her schoolmates! br>br>We had no problems using a recipe from the instruction booklet, and we're excited to try the rest of the book's recipes. br>br>Tips (some of them have been mentioned before in other reviews, so if you think you've heard it before, you're correct!
- The cake pop maker heats up quickly. You must exercise caution.
- Squeeze batter into the holes of the cake pop machine with a squeeze bottle; it's quick, convenient, and easy to fill the machine quickly so the cake pops start baking at roughly the same time. br>- Fill the holes almost all the way to the top (the batter will expand into a ball shape after baking).
- When you're ready to bake your cake pops, make sure the cake pop latch is closed. Every time, I had to manually close the latch (no big deal).
- Halfway through the baking cycle, flip each cake pop ball over using the two-prong fork (included in the package) and another kitchen utensil (I used a plastic knife). This ensures an even browning of the cake pops. br>br>That's all there is to it! There's nothing quite like popping freshly baked cake pops into your mouth without having to turn on the oven. br>br>The cake pop maker is small, easy to use, and effective. My daughter and I are thrilled with it, and it's also a wonderful opportunity for us to bond as father and daughter!.
They're a little thicker and produce perfectly round spheres.
The balls were flat and fluffy when they came out of the oven. I finally gave in and tried the recommended red velvet recipe that came with the machine, and it turned out fantastically! I was able to make over 150 cake pops in under 2 hours, and I'm so glad I bought it!.
The pops all have a "seam" going around them, which makes cleanup difficult. By the way, on the 12-inch screen, at least, They're about the size of a pop unit. 5 inches in diameter - It was difficult to locate that data! Also, the top does not appear to bake as much as the bottom (despite the fact that the bottoms receive more heat due to the time it takes to fill). It's worth noting that the prong device used to remove these is metal, which seems odd given that it's a non-metallic item. a unit made of sticks I ended up spearing and pulling them out with small cocktail forks. These bake up quickly, which I appreciate. Happy Jack Belgian waffle mix is one of the most successful things I've done. I like the texture of a red velvet pancake mix with a little cocoa, vanilla, and red food coloring, and a chocolate chip muffin mix that only requires water. My three suggestions for how to use it are as follows: Allow it to heat up for longer than it says it will, find the right batter consistency and use that instead of the mix recipe amounts, and figure out a quick way to accurately fill the holes. You can use a pastry bag or a disposable zippered plastic bag with a hole cut in it to do this. Spooning it in is slower and less precise, so some areas may be overfilled while others are underfilled. Also, remember that to open the door, you must squeeze the latch at the handle.
Cake pops can be made in one of two ways: Take a baked cake and smear it with icing. Form into a ball (too sweet for me) or purchase a machine that bakes a pre-formed cake ball. Babycakes produced dozens of cake balls in a short amount of time. I scored 36 out of 100. One box of cake mix yielded 48 cake pops. The following are some of the disadvantages of this appliance: Use pot holders because it gets very hot (as I was warned when I read the manual). 2. Keep small children at bay You must work quickly to fill the cavities with batter because if you don't, the batter in the first filled cavity will begin to set up before you finish the last. The manual recommends placing the batter in a plastic bag. snip the end of it Controlling it is a real pain. slow. Using a large plastic squeeze bottle is the best solution. A lot more quickly improved control The Cake Pop Maker can also be used to make quick and delicious doughnut holes for breakfast. If you read the entire instruction manual before using the appliance, you will have fewer problems. Try it a couple of times.
