This is my second purchase of these bags, and I couldn't be more pleased. The plastic is just thick enough to feel solid but not overly rigid. They cut well and are simple to clean and reuse. Those on the fence about these should know that I use them mostly for decorating rolled sugar cookies and smaller details on cakes. I like the size of the 12 inch bag because I'm not tempted to overfill it with frosting only to have the buttercream warm up - My hands are extremely hot! In comparison to the 16-inch bags, I also feel like I have more control with this size. I would definitely recommend the Wilton 16 inch bags if you need to use a lot of frosting quickly.
They're very pressure resistant, as well as washable and easy to clean. I was using three different ones at once with different points.
I'm glad I can get these on Amazon because the price is significantly lower than what I'd pay at my local craft store. I seem to be becoming more mature as I get older. I am more concerned with ease of use, and I adore these bags! We have a lot of deviled egg fans in our family, and these decorating bags make the process of making them and cleaning them up a lot easier. For the best presentation, we use them with a large star tip. My children enjoy assisting me in the kitchen, and this is a tool that allows them to do so more easily - You can use ziplock bags instead of decorating bags, but the thinner/flimsier plastic and lower height of the bags make them difficult to use for beginners and small hands. Our ecstatic kitchen gives it two thumbs up!.
These single-use bags are tough and well-made. I only use icing bags that are meant to be thrown away. Even though they're only for one use, they're powerful - There was no icing over the bottom edges, and the seams did not split. It is simple to twist, but it is necessary to get a grip when using them. Wilton couplers fit easily into the bottom, and all you have to do now is snip off the end and attach the icing tip and coupler ring, and you're done. It's easy to get icing into the bag because of the large opening.
I've never had a blowout with these bags because they are so sturdy. I prefer the small bags because the frosting in the larger bags tends to melt from the heat of your hand after a while, so I prefer to refill a bag rather than have the frosting melt or become too soft in the larger bag. Because I have hot hands, this is a significant issue for me.
When I use it, it is thick and sturdy, and it holds up well. However, I dislike the fact that, due to the small size, I have to go through multiple bags just to make one cake. I'll buy it again, but in a larger size this time.
I use these to make sausage roll filling quickly and easily. Simply pipe a line onto the pastry. In comparison to spooning it in, it not only speeds up the process but also makes it much less messy. I also make pasties and hand pies, which I use to fill these. We wouldn't be where we are now if it weren't for them. Also works well for cake decorating.
It may be a little more expensive, but the quality is always there. I looked for a less expensive option and ended up returning to Wilton. Seams do not split and should always be held together for excellent piping.
