Questions & Answers

To be clear about something. if the door's glass frame is approximately "24 X 66" Then this item, measuring 22 x 64 inches, should fit?

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the ODL Add On Blind. Yes, you typically subtract 2" from the Glass Call out size when ordering, so the 22 x 64 would be the correct size. Marcia / ODL

Is there a color other than white available?

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the ODL Add On Blind. They are only available in white. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. ODL / Marcia

Is it necessary to purchase two French doors or is it a two-person art?

French doors will necessitate the purchase of two.

Do they sell just the insert blinds for this product? I have them, and one of the blind inserts has broken and landed inside the glass. ?

I honestly don't know. I'm guessing they do, but that disassembling the glass to replace the blinds would be a major undertaking. The entire unit isn't that expensive, and it's probably worth it just to order a new one, but I'd call the company first because they have excellent customer service. Best of luck!

Installing is a breeze! These have a lot of potential
5/5

The first one took about 30 minutes, but after we learned a few tricks, the second one only took about 15 minutes. A 1/2-inch wide wood chisel is a useful tool for making things easier. Tap a wood chisel between the frame and the metal tabs after loosening corner screws. After that, tighten everything up, clean the window, and hang it. Excellent purchase, which I would recommend to anyone.

Prayer was heard and responded to
5/5

I needed something to cover my wide-open French doors. Just don't know who's peeping through the window late at night. I didn't want to go through the trouble of drilling holes in my doors or walls. I couldn't find any drapes that didn't take up too much space in my kitchen. I came across these and absolutely adore them! It was exactly what I was looking for. I did it all myself (highly recommend watching online videos of others doing it first). It took an hour and a half to complete. They've been around for a while now and are still going strong. It has a high-end and elegant appearance.

THERE ARE A COUPLE OF LITTLE PROBLEMS
4/5

SOME MINOR ISSUESbr>br>On the front door, we had cloth panels (white sheer under a solid 'waisted' brown) that helped with privacy but limited light. Because the kitchen faces north (and thus receives less sunlight), the main overhead light was frequently turned on during the day. br>br>Installation instructions gave a hint about where to look for and remove the plug that covered the screws that held the window frame to the door. I simply pried out the caulk plugs by tapping them with an awl. Only two of the best are in the top 10. The screws in the bottom corners and lower sides should be loosened rather than removed entirely. br>br>Once the included hardware has been installed in the frame, the screws can be tightened and re-installed. a sealant If desired, the surface can be painted. The white caulk went well with my white door, but the ODL Add-On's frame was a different story. Blinds are designed to fit over the window frame. The screws couldn't be seen because they were hidden behind the panel. My door had some visible scuffs/dents/holes from the previous cloth panel mounting brackets, which I filled with caulk (it took three applications because the caulk shrank), then painted the entire door face. Frame assembly would have taken about 15 minutes if that had not been required. br>br>While mounting the ODL frame can be done by one person, I recommend enlisting the assistance of a second person - one to lift and place the frame on the top mounting clips, and another to center the bottom of the frame sideways The ODL frame has a lot of weight at 22 pounds, so it had to be positioned under a lever in my case. a door handle in the style Because of this, I was unable to align the frame on my own. Everything went smoothly with the assistance of a friend. THE GOODbr> - br>br>THE GOODbr> - br>br>THE GOODbr> - br>br Because there is so much more outside light now that the cloth panels have been removed, the overhead light is rarely turned on during the day. br> - We had two Standard Schnauzers who would keep an eye out for rabbits in the back yard. They'd wiggle one side of the curtain panel off the rod - We'd reposition it as soon as it was noticed. The blinds are now fully or partially open or the slats are open during the day - There will be no more panel readjusting, and they will have a much better view of the yard - as do we.
- The privacy provided by the blinds is greater than that provided by the cloth panels. Nothing is visible from the outside. br> - On the sides, there are two sliders - one on the left and one on the right. one to adjust the slat angle and the other to raise/lower the blinds - Work without a hitch and with minimal effort. br>br>MINOR PROBLEMSbr> - The doorknob side of the ODL frame doesn't line up perfectly with the face of my door - There is about a gap. 06". When mounting the doorknob on the door, I was apparently a little too enthusiastic, causing the metal door face to be depressed. As a result of the estimated It's not difficult to see the 25" wide slot for the sliders. A thin bead of caulk would solve the problem, but I'd have to re-caulk if I had to remove or replace the ODL frame.
- When you close or open the door with a lot of force, some or all of the blinds will fall out of the track. It's sometimes possible to fix this by raising the blinds. down to reintroduce them to their new surroundings. When that doesn't work, you'll have to take the frame off the door, replace the blinds, and rehang the frame - Because the frame requires some effort to mount, I suspect most women will find this an annoyance.
- The mounting clips on the frame's lower sides are thin, unpainted aluminum strips that are highly visible. They're probably small. A touch of paint would help 'disguise' them, as they are 50" long and only visible when viewed from the side. When my wife reminds me to do so, I'll do so - again.
- There is a total of approximately. Between the ODL frame and my door, I have 50 inches of clearance. handle lever, close to the open-closed-closed-close-close-close-close the lever's final position It isn't a problem because there is about 3" of clearance (along the handle) to grip the lever.
- I think the frame is a little too expensive, with a more reasonable price being 25% less. But, rather than visiting local brick-and-mortar stores, I've grown accustomed to the convenience of searching for and purchasing items while sitting in front of a computer. So, as a result of my decision to pay the price. . . To summarize, we like the ODL frame because it adds a touch of modernity to our kitchen, lets in a lot more light, and eliminates the problem of dogs pushing the previous panels aside, despite the fact that there is now a lot of wet-weather storage. The glass has prints of noses on it. br>br>Toyman br>br>.

In less than four months, I was bankrupt
3/5

A number of blinds were bent, and the mechanisms for raising and lowering them were broken four months later. This is the second one I've bought in March; the first was in January, and both have served me well so far.

Exactly what I needed! I ordered these blinds on 2/23 and received them on 3/4/21, but they were damaged when they arrived
5/5

I immediately contacted the seller and asked for a refund. Within 24 hours, the seller responded, stating that my return request had been cancelled and that they would instead send me a new replacement. All I had to do was send them photos of the broken/damaged blinds, and they arranged for a new delivery, which I received on March 13th, 21. I'm really happy with these blinds; they're exactly what I wanted! The seller's prompt response is also something I appreciate. I was also relieved that I didn't have to go through the hassle of returning the item to receive a replacement. They've got one happy customer here!.

After a few setbacks, it's looking great
3/5

At the end of the first week, everything was fine. It appears to be quite nice, but there are a few issues: 1. br>br> When I received the package, the blinds had fallen out of their tracks, so I had to reinstall them while being careful not to bend them.
2. Because the blinds don't go all the way up, there's a 5-foot gap between them and the top of the window. Even when fully open, the blinds are 6 inches wide.
3. Getting the hangers to latch into the slots on the frame was a frustrating and exhausting task. I spent two hours simply lifting and connecting the door, only for it to fall off. My arms and neck were in excruciating pain, and my fingers were calloused. I had to loosen and tighten the screws several times to get the spacers and hangers to stay in place. Finally, I had to loosen the raised frame on top a little and let it hang loose so the hangers would line up properly with the slot. This concerns me because I was unable to fully tighten the screws in order to align the hangers.
5. I had to use a hammer to completely turn one of the clips because it wouldn't close all the way. br>br>I'll use it until it breaks down, then replace the entire door. My dog goes out the patio door 8 times a day. It's used ten times a day, so it's in high demand.

I wish I had known about this option years ago; it's a fantastic product
5/5

br>This item has performed admirably for my purposes. In the window, it appears to be sharp; simple to set up; works in the same way as a built-in blind. br>br>It does take up quite a bit of space around the door glass, to the point where the door handle's rose butts up against it. However, the benefit of having the privacy and convenience of being blind outweighs the disadvantage. br>br>In addition to the added privacy, I can now look out the window without disturbing the finches, sparrows, chickadees, or flickers. They can't see me in the window any longer. Since the blinds were installed, there have been no known bird strikes. The blinds keep birds from flying into the window by preventing reflections against the outside glass. br>br>It was well worth the money. br>br>Will have to wait and see how long they last, but replacing them is much less expensive than dealing with a built-in. I would buy this product again in a heartbeat.
