I had been looking for something similar to this. The description of the item was correct. It was the assembly that was the source of my frustration. It's not difficult; all you have to do is insert the rod into the magnetic endcap, which secures it. I couldn't get the rod into the endcap because it was too short. The rod's diameter was greater than the end cap's diameter. Plastic grooves are located inside the endcap, which I believe help secure the smaller inner rod, but the larger outer rod was too large. I even tried shaving off a portion of the inner plastic grooves in the hopes of attaching the rod, but then I realized the outer rod diameter was larger than the hole on the end cap. Maybe it was just a fluke in the manufacturing process. This rod has a great appearance, and the magnetic end is strong enough to handle heavier fabrics. I would still recommend this product, but I would recommend putting it together first to ensure that the ends fit together properly. Especially since a rod of this shorter length is difficult to come by.
I placed an order for a 9-pack of cigarettes. For the sidelights, we used a 16" set of four, and for our front door, we used a longer set of the same brand. Simply stunning!.
I bought these for my west-facing front door, and they have done an excellent job of holding the curtain in place to block the blinding sun! My only issue is that I have to reset them once a day at the very least. Because the poles are extendable, the sides of the poles differ, but both magnetic holders are the same size, so the smaller end frequently falls out! The top piece had a smaller insert in the holder, but there was only one, so the bottom rod simply rests in its holder until it is brushed against or bumped.
It would have been fine if I hadn't had to do so much fiddling to get it to work. It should have only taken a few moments. It took a long time. Because one rod is inside the other, the rods are two different sizes. That means there should be two magnetic holders on the ends, one with a smaller hole for small rods and the other with a larger hole for larger rods. Only one end of my package had a large hole, while the other three had small holes. So, in order to make it work, I had to carefully drill out one of them. Because the final piece is made of plastic, I had to be very careful. In addition, I believe I required a 7/16 bit, which is extremely rare. To compensate for the difference, I used a 1/2" bit and wrapped tape around the round. Although the product appears to be of good quality and performs satisfactorily, it was unfortunate that the package contained incorrect pieces.
I didn't want to drill holes in the steel door or surround. Despite conflicting reviews that stated "magnets are very strong" and "magnets are weak," I ordered this. It comes with a clear piece of adhesive with the words "remove magnet's protective adhesive" written on it. When the adhesive is applied, the magnets are fairly strong, but when it is removed, they become extremely powerful. (It's also possible that the type of metal you use to attach the magnet has an effect. ) ) The only issue I had was that I had two packages of the item on my shopping list (top and bottom for two sidelights) and didn't realize that when I moved it to the cart, it didn't move both. Duh. However, it appears to be fantastic. So now I'm in a position to place a second order.
The "in" pieces go on the smaller rod, while the "out" pieces go on the bigger rod. Only one of the rods in this two-pack is usable because we received three "in" pieces. It's lame, but it's so cheap that the return process isn't worth bothering with. Buyer beware, br>br>.
When these arrived, I was concerned because the packaging had been tampered with. The package was actually damaged from the inside because the magnets were so powerful that they attracted to each other despite the wrappings. Magnets appear to be in good shape. I used these to cover the windows on my garage door, so they have a wide width and a short length. They did a fantastic job for this in order. My only complaint was that I needed the maximum length of each rod, so the middle was weak and unreliable. I used electrical tape to secure the middle where the two rods met at the width I needed, and that seemed to work. Thank you for a fantastic solution! Just make them a little longer! The magnets are certainly powerful.
These magnetic curtain rods were incredibly simple to put together and have a strong hold. I'm not sure why some people are having trouble inserting the rods into the magnetic holders. The smaller rod fits into the smaller opening of the holder. Because the holders are paired with like, you'll need to swap one from each pair to complete the set. I liked how the width could be adjusted to achieve the desired curtain look. The width of the magnetic holder didn't matter for my sidelight because it could be positioned above the sidelight window. These rods are better than I expected and I am very pleased with them.
