Questions & Answers
No, it doesn't seem to be the case. The rod is a part of the mounting base's structure. I looked to see if the ball had come loose from the rod, but it had not. Although the magnet is powerful, I'm not sure how daily removal would affect it.
One rod is all there is to it.
It's made of metal.
Aluminum does not attract magnets.

I have a metal door with nine pane windows on the inside, and I needed a morning curtain to keep the sun out. I couldn't drill into the metal door without ruining it, so discovering that there was a magnetic rod was the solution I needed. This rod can be adjusted to fit your needs and is very effective. When the door is slammed, it does not move. Anyone who has a metal door should consider this.
This is affixed to my metal front door. I literally took it out of the box, draped it over the door, and nailed it shut. Thwack. The curtain is light and sheer, allowing light in but not allowing visibility. With my lightweight curtain, I find that the adhesion is incredible. People who had issues with this either didn't have a metal door, had a door made of a metal material blend that wasn't good for a magnetic bond, or hung something too heavy on the rod (it's not magical, it has a weight limit). I'm really happy with it; it was on sale for a great price, and I wish I'd bought it years ago because now I don't have to live in a fishbowl. I was hesitant due to the negative reviews, but they also seemed pigeon-holed. I decided to go for it. The rod I bought and received performed 100% as advertised and looks amazing too (I have the cocoa colored one) It doesn't appear to be cheap, and it doesn't have any of the other reviewers' complaints about weird plastic ends.
I've hung these up on a variety of magnetic surfaces, including super strong magnets, several times. The curtains I chose aren't particularly heavy. But they've always fallen, and I've only touched them a few times. Finally, I've resorted to using only liquid nail glue. I don't have time to return them and find something else because I don't have time to do so. With curtains that aren't the lightest / sheerest material, I doubt these would stay on any type of door that is used on a regular basis. Not more than $6 in value - $10.
It left her with a bloody lip, but it didn't knock out any of her teeth. So tell your kids not to pull on them at all because the rod ends are heavy and will hurt them if they fall off and hit them.
The post is the correct color, but the magnetic pieces are PURPLE when I received it.
Since the invention of sliced bread, this is the best invention ever! I had no idea such a thing existed until very recently. I was a little concerned about the durability of these at first, but they are incredible! For a long time, I'd wanted to hang a curtain on my front door, but I was terrified of measuring and screwing into my metal door! I was looking online when I finally decided it was time, and I came across these rods! I couldn't believe how tough and durable they are! You are free to hang them and adjust them as you see fit!! There will be no errors! It's possible that different curtains will fit differently. It's not a problem; simply relocate them. And if you decide to take them down for any reason, you won't have any problems doing so, and you won't have any unsightly holes in your door! I'm a huge fan of these magnetic rods!.
I purchased two of these to use as door panels on our patio door. The magnets are barely strong enough to withstand the tension from my sheer door panel curtain, despite the fact that it looks nice. My son drew the curtain aside to look out the door at an approaching storm, which reminded me to write this review. My curtain is now on the floor, as is the top rod. I threw away the packaging, but I'm considering returning these. These rods are useless to me.
For two French door panels, I purchased four of these. They were up in no time - I removed them from the package, dismantled each rod, loaded the panels onto the rods, and glued them to the doors. I'm using them with light, sheer panels, and they're not quite as magnetic as I'd like. I doubt they would stay up if the curtain fabric was heavier. (As I was arranging the bottom to ensure the panel was taut, one of them detached from the top. ) ) Also, as another reviewer pointed out, the "cocoa" appears to be a tad purple! I wish I'd ordered the black instead, but it's not bad enough to send them back and have them replaced. (If you can't decide between the two, go for the black. ).
