Despite the fact that these didn't stick magnetically to our window like I had hoped, we were able to make it work. If you don't want to make the same mistake we did, keep reading. Our window didn't have as much metal in the area as we had expected before buying it. If you want to use this feature, first place a medium-sized magnet along the sidelight window; if the magnet doesn't stay on its own, the feature won't work. Now, if you want to avoid drilling holes in your sidelight panels, we had another thought - You might be able to make use of these! Here's how those handy command double-sided strips, thanks to 3M, work like a charm! First, clean and dry the sidelight surface. Cut 3M double-sided strips to size, remove the protective plastic from the magnet before shipping, attach 3M to the item first, then apply pressure to keep it in place on the sidelight panel. It's up after one minute of walking away! We chose to do both sides at once, so make sure your curtain is on the rod before you begin! Double-check first, but we thought this product was great, even though the magnet didn't work for us!.

The magnets are fairly strong, but they will move with any disturbance (door slam, brushing against, pet), so it's a good idea that falls short. To keep them in place, you'd have to use the ADHESIVE as well. I bought these so that the window frame would not be damaged; This is defeated by the use of adhesive. If adhesive is needed, save 80% by purchasing regular cafe rods for approximately $3. They also lay flatter, giving the panels a better appearance. These protrude about 1 1/2 inches from the surface and do not produce the desired effect. They do, however, have some functionality if magnetic is your only option.

I'm on my third set of curtain rods for the sidelights. The other two sets I purchased in a store and found to be insufficient to withstand a strong breeze when the front door was opened (the window is right next to the front door). The two sets of rods I'd bought were either damaged or lost as they were easy to pull off the window casing due to the rods blowing off and the addition of a puppy to our household. This set is more appealing and durable than the others; the magnets are strong and do not come off the casing as easily as my previous sets did. I don't expect to have to replace these as frequently as the other two sets. In terms of price, these were also comparable. Overall, I'm happy with this product and would recommend it over the other store-bought options. I bought sets that I had already bought.

These are fantastic and perform admirably, but I've run into one major stumbling block. I needed four, but first purchased a two-pack to ensure that they were good and functional. They worked fine, so I went back into my Amazon orders and clicked the buy button once more. Different (screw in) rods were sent to me. I returned them and reordered the magnetic rods shown, only to receive the incorrect (screw in) rods once more. I'm returning them again, but I'm beyond frustrated because I know if I try to order these again, I'll get the same wrong product, and I can't figure out how to contact someone and have the problem resolved, so I'm stuck with two rods I can't use.

I like the concept, but it isn't sufficiently strong. I wanted to put these on the back of my metal door. However, when attempting to push the curtain to the side, they slide easily and do not stay in place, and the metal bar is weak and thin. I had to tape it together to make it stronger and to prevent the poles from seperating and dropping whatever they're holding if you move it. For the window on my door, I'll have to get a more "heavy duty" setup. Rather than dealing with the hassle of returning them, I decided to use them as towel holders on my stove and refrigerator in the kitchen. They might be fine if you don't plan on moving the curtain, but if you plan on opening and closing your curtains frequently, I recommend investing in something more durable.

This is fine for adults, but not for a family with two young children who enjoy peering out the windows when the doorbell rings. I was constantly looking for pieces of the tension rods (springs are notoriously difficult to locate once they've bounced off!). I'm so glad I came across these on Amazon. They attached to the base of the window (I had no idea it was metal!) very easily using magnets. I only purchased one set to cover the bottoms of both windows. I moved them up the window a little higher so that they billow out a little and make peering out easier. It was such a simple fix for such a vexing issue!.

My concern that the magnets would be weak made me laugh out loud. Before I removed the protective backing from the magnets, I held the rod up to the surface to see how wide I should extend it. Those magnets snapped right through the backing, and they won't move unless you give them a good push! What a great product!.
