It spins around and around. It expands when you spin it, then tightens or untightens when you untwist it, and then retracts like a regular curtain rod.
You twist them together, that's all there is to it.
They protrude 3" from the wall.
This is the third rod I've bought. I have two in the dining room and one in the office, and I intend to buy more. These rods are excellent. Metal is used in all of the components I've received. The rod and the end brackets are both made of metal. I'll be purchasing these for the majority of my windows, if not all of them. I adore them, as well as the way they appear.

These curtain rods have a great look to them. They're really simple, but they're so stylish at the same time. There are only two things I'd change about them. When it comes to the middle rod support, the longer extension rod falls flat, and they include a simple black rod holder as the central support, which I think is a shame. What should have been used instead is a matching "T" pipe style fitting with a hollowed center to allow the central bar to rest and be supported. br>2. From one piece to the next, the powder coating appears to be less durable. I'm guessing it's a problem with quality control. After securing the mounting bracket with a screw, tighten it. The decorative pipe mount's powder coating cracked and fell off. Amazing will not send you a replacement part, but will replace it with a new one. I'm going to call Kenny directly and see if they can send just one piece instead. br>br>I'll admit that, despite the fact that they claim to hold 20 pounds, I have my doubts. These do a fantastic job of holding my light curtains in place. Anything thicker, on the other hand, would be fascinating to see. Between the supports, I'm sure there'd be a lot of sagging. br>br>Aside from that, I am very pleased with the overall appearance and functionality.
I really like the rods. exactly what I'm looking for in my screened-in porch.
I like how they look, but the fourth screw can't be installed with standard tools due to the rod's 90-degree angle, which prevents a screwdriver from being inserted.
It looks nice once they're up, and they're very sturdy (I used them to hang very heavy 108" blackout curtains), but each rod requires TEN screws (4 on each end and two for the middle support). So, when it comes to hanging them, be prepared for a project.
They're the perfect size, the perfect color, and they're incredibly durable! The rod was easy to install and I am 150% confident that these drapes will not come down! They have a great style and give off a sleek, modern vibe. You will not be disappointed, and they are very inexpensive!.
Not well constructed - Not very durable. This item was returned, and I went to the hardware store to get the real deal. boom.
One of the screw heads popped off while I was screwing it into the wall, and part of the paint on the rod flaked off before we could even hang it! They have four screw holes, but the inside one is impossible to screw because of the angle of the piece, so you can only secure it with three screws on each side. This rod can barely hold one curtain and is skinnier and smaller than shown in the photos. I'll be back in a heartbeat.
They're fantastic! They are very attractive and simple to install. They're sturdy, and each one includes a center piece that keeps them from drooping, even on larger windows (or sliding glass doors). They have a great industrial feel to them, which is exactly what I was looking for. I'll most likely purchase four more sets for my living and dining rooms!.
