Questions & Answers

What is the distance between this project and the wall?

About 2. The distance between the wall and the inside of the rod is 5 inches.
. and 3 inches (from the wall to the rod's outer edge).

How do you get these to open after they've been installed so you can wash the curtains?

A little bit of clarification. So, every time the curtain needs to be removed, one must basically unscrew FROM THE WALL? Unlike standard installation rods, where the curtain can be removed by simply lifting the rod off of the wall-mounted bracket (without having to unscrew it)? Even though I don't anticipate having to wash the curtain very often, wouldn't repeated unscrewing/screwing of the rod from the wall over time strip / weaken the holes / rod / installation?

Is there a buckle in the middle due to the weight? Is there a middle support that prevents me from using a single large curtain?

In regards to the rod, Stacy is incorrect. Metal, without a doubt. At 120", you'll need to use the middle bracket. Because this is the smallest diameter rod available, it will sag slightly to either side of the middle if your curtains are heavy. If your curtains are heavy, a 3/4" or 1" rod set will suffice. Having said that, I have fairly heavy curtains that span 122" and do not sag.

After a few uses, does the black finish come off?

My curtain rod is nickelplated, and the curtains glide smoothly without leaving any residue.

Curtain rods that darken the room
5/5

I hung plants in my windows using these room darkening curtain rods. So I'm not sure how they work as curtain rods, but they're fantastic for hanging plants! This item is extremely durable. I would strongly suggest it.

A smart upgrade to a basic rod
4/5

Remember the old aluminum rods for your rod pocket curtains, with the ends that slid down onto hooked metal plates screwed into the window woodwork? This is a fantastic enhancement. For those who don't want or need fancy wood rods with finials, but still want or need a sturdy, practical, and sleekly attractive curtain rod. The mounting plate and screws are cleverly concealed at each end by curving them inward, allowing the curtains to be drawn all the way to the edge. I only gave them a lower rating because untwisting the screw-driver is a bit of a pain. Every time you want to remove the curtain, insert rods from both sides of the mounting plates. And because they won't screw into the ends properly if you don't MOUNT THEM WITH THE ROD ATTACHED.

This is fantastic! My blackout curtains are held in place by this fantastic rod
5/5

Because my head of the bed is so close to the window, it may become cold. It's no longer a major issue. My bed pulls on my curtains from time to time, and these rods have held up well after a few months of use. There isn't a single negative thing to say about them; they perform admirably!.

It's strong enough to hold up the room-darkening curtains I also ordered for our rental, and it works well at a low price
4/5

My husband works at night and sleeps during the day, and he appreciates the light blocking on the sides. Because of the way I hung the curtains, a little light leaks in at the top, but that's fine with us. We ordered a size that only requires us to slightly extend the rod, so I believe that, despite its lightweight design, it is quite sturdy. I recommend going up a size if your window is on the narrower side of the width range.

I liked these rods a lot. Because the grommet curtains wrap around the curve of the rod and sit flat against the wall, there is no light peeking in from the sides, it worked out perfectly.
