Has anyone successfully used Command strips to hang this horizontally?

No, the key end was secured with a sinker screw and wire, and the handle end was secured with a sinker and headed screw. Though I enjoy using command strips for small projects, I believe this key is far too heavy.

What is the key's weight? (Could it be used in a children's play as a key to the city?

No, it's too big and heavy.

Is it possible to hang this key on the front door?

I'm not sure what your front door is made of, but I'm guessing you'll need dry wall or wood to get a nail through it. You could try hanging it with those removable command hooks.

Is it possible to change the color of this with spray paint?

Yes, it is possible. If you're going for a lighter color, I'd recommend using a primer first.

Heavy, with a good price

It's heavy, as everyone has pointed out. I had intended to hang it horizontally, but I didn't want two monkey hooks to show, so I hung it vertically instead. Also, I'm thinking about painting the bronze portion of the hook. It would have been nice if it came with matching screws and hooks. Aside from that, it's a lovely piece that was sold for a good price.

I've been using a farmhouse theme to decorate my living room. I was looking for a "key" to go with the farmhouse gallery wall I was planning. When I saw this iron key, I knew I had to have it. It appears to be exactly as shown in the photograph. It's nice and heavy, but not excessively so. With a nail, it was very simple to hang. It appeals to me. This is a dish that you can't go wrong with!.

It's cute and works perfectly for the purpose I had in mind. My only gripe is that the description says it's over 14" long when it's only 13", but it's still cute.
