I love it as a decoration and it works really well!
That sounds interesting. This is not something I would do. It can be hung on the wall with anything, but this one Since it is constructed in a way that is challenging to hang, there are no easy ways to do so. In addition, if mounted on a wall, a compass would not function correctly. A point that points north can not point north. The cell phone is SMALL, too. There is only a 3 inch difference.
There are moving parts, but a chain isn't practical since it's too big, and there are no places for it.
This is not something I would do. The plate only measures about 3" across and with all the small pieces, it would be difficult to polish if it became There is something very appealing about it.

I am certain it was only a Christmas ornament, but it does look very nice. It was a "Cheer You Up" gift. The review was not all that technical You don't have to worry about me!.
The product is not worth the money. Warped metal plates and other metal products were present. This product is of poor quality and is cheaply made. We did not see the pointer's shadow because other unnecessary metal pieces were obstructing it. Additionally, the round plate is too small to see the pointer's shadow. If you are buying them, make sure they are 5 inches. Get the 6 inch one and not the 3 inch. As you can see, this one was supposed to have a leveler, but it was useless and defective. I am angry because I wanted to return it to the store but was unable to do so due to Coronavirus. I also ordered a 5 inch version from another seller and I found it to be fantastic and less expensive as well.
The material is not brass it is silver, but it has a cool brushy look to it. My son enjoyed using it even though it didn't have the dual dials as depicted in the picture, which has since disappeared. So I was very disappointed with my purchase, although my son was very pleased with it.

Whatever the cause, the compass is not working. The return trip is not worth your time or effort. There's a really thin feeling to the material. However, it does seem to be ok so we didn't throw it out.
I guess the tiny compass on the dial could not handle shipping because the dial itself appears to be well made. It ended up costing me less than I paid plus postage. A one-time unfortunate event might have been all there was to it. I find it so.
It's wonderful, but I wish it came with instructions. I bought it as a gift for my husband who loves it.
