I thought the A S Handicrafts Brass Sundial Clock Leather Strape Stamped Wrist Compass Navigation would be a neat piece of jewelry as an accessory to go with a Steampunk outfit or as an explorer watch. As for the compass in the watch case, you are supposed to point it towards the North and raise the vane to see the shadow along the edge of the dial. I did not expect it to be very accurate but I anticipated at least There are roman numerals engraved around the edge of the glass but there are a lot of straight lines engraved randomly that interfere with the numerals, so it's hard to tell what the character is. One side has 9 numbers and the other side has 8 numbers, but the numbers do not continue from I to XII as on the other side. * There are instructions on the back of the "watch" that are poorly translated into English and might make more sense if the roman numeral XII was displayed Just my two cents on wasted effort. I think any effort that goes into engraving instructions into the back of a "watch" should be followed up with making sure those instructions are accurate. This will be an accessory but I won't be able to tell anyone the approximate time of day. It is now.

What is the importance of this? Obviously, if this is a joke item, then it would be a good idea, it is absurd, it would be great, and technically, it would work. A serious timepiece would be a waste but it was an ordinary time piece. It works best in open areas, requires an incredibly steady hand and a clear sky. It also works best with a compass. I am giving this to a collector of fine watches as a gift, and I am sure he will enjoy it a lot! It is large, ugly and you have to assemble it every time you want to figure out what time it is!.

If you want to give it as a gift, you'll need to repackage it. It would be a great gift for the guy who has everything or the guy with a good sense of humor. Inside the plain brown box I photographed, it is wrapped in bubble wrap and comes in the box I photographed. But other than that, it is excellent.

It is beautiful. It was made with pride and also came with a small compass necklace pendant that did not come with a very nice antique. It looks like it has been there for generations.
