This year's Christmas present was a square version of this clock, which I adore. (Please see the illustration). I needed a new clock for the other bathroom, and this round one fits perfectly. (Please see the illustration). When the instructions stated that the suction cups should not be used on some tiles, I was concerned, but I have had no problems using either clock on my shiny, smooth bathroom tiles. It has excellent suction! There are four large suction cups, ensuring a firm grip. I like that I can twist the clock off to change the battery or use the included stand (shown in photo) to put it somewhere else if I want to. When viewed from a distance, the numbers are large and easy to read. When the square clock I have up high has steam on it, I notice it's more difficult to read if I'm close to it and looking at it from below. It's fine if I step back; both versions have the time, date, day, and temperature, with the round version adding humidity. Unless it is extremely cold in the bathroom when one wakes up to shower in the morning, the temperature is a nice feature. lol. The brushed nickel in my bathrooms complements the finish. It doesn't appear to be a low-cost wall clock. One AA battery is required. Adjusting the settings is simple, and the instructions are laid out in a step-by-step format. Overall, I'm pleased with these clocks and would buy them again (as a gift) based on the step-by-step instructions. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> This clock has been in my possession for a few months. It has never come loose from the tile to which it is suctioned, and the battery life appears to be adequate. I'm still running on the original batteries, and it's still keeping perfect time. This clock is without a doubt recommended. One is in each of my bathrooms.

This product is completely devoid of any suction power. I've only had this product for a few hours and it's already fallen off of four different surfaces. This product was tested on glass, stainless steel, and two different types of tile surfaces - Prior to mounting, the application area should be thoroughly scrubbed and dried. After hearing it crash to the ground the first two or three times, I probably should have learned my lesson, but I was adamant about making it work. The suction cups are described as "temperamental" in the instructions provided. If I'm paying $34 for a clock, you'd think they'd provide "reliable" suction cups. br>br>The instructions claim that their suction cups are "ineffective" on tile and work best in dry conditions, but this is simply not true, and I'm happy to explain why. The suction cup's working face is made of a curved, elastic material. When the suction cup's center is pressed against a flat, non-porous surface, the suction cup's suction is increased. The volume of the space between the suction cup and the flat surface is reduced by the porous surface, causing air or water to escape past the rim of the circular cup. Because most of the fluid has already been forced out of the inside of the cup, there is little to no air or water in the cavity that forms between the cup and the flat surface. The difference in pressure between the atmosphere on the outside of the cup and the low-pressure inside the cup. The cup stays attached to the surface thanks to a pressure cavity on the inside. The elastic substance from which the cup is made tends to return to its original, curved shape when the user stops applying physical pressure to the outside of the cup. The time it takes for air or water to leak back into the cavity between the cup and the surface and equalize the pressure with the surrounding atmosphere determines how long the suction effect can be maintained. This is determined by the surface's porosity and flatness, as well as the cup's rim properties. TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL DR - Water's cohesive properties help to form a more consistent seal around the suction cup's rim - assisting in maintaining a vacuum and filling in all imperfections on the two surfaces br>br>One of the main issues here, aside from the use of low-cost components, is that the suction cups used by this product have almost no concavity or rigidity, demonstrating that quantity does not always equate to quality. Yes, there are four suction cups, which allows for a more even distribution of weight over a larger surface area in theory. However, in practice, this was insufficient to compensate for the poor quality of the component. br>br>Enough with the naysayers already! The brushed aluminum frame is stunning, and it has survived four very bad falls with only minor scuffs. Not a scratch on it! The screen appears to have held up well to the falls and is still clear and easy to read; however, I can't say the same for the internal components, as I can now hear a lot of rattling from soldered components that were jostled loose during the fall. The display was very simple to put together, and I love that it tells me what day of the week it is.

Here's where the story goes from here. I've been looking for a good outdoor digital clock with the features this clock offers that is also waterproof for a long time. I can assure you that finding such an item is nearly impossible. I use this on my back porch in Florida, so it's critical to have something that can withstand moisture, and I figured this would be ideal. It touted a variety of mounting options and claimed to be suitable for high-moisture environments. I figured that since I was attaching it to an aluminum post, I could either use the hanger on the back or attach Velcro to the back. What wasn't mentioned was that no matter how you attach it, you must leave the suction cups on to keep it water proof; however, this makes attaching it using anything other than the suction cups much more difficult; my solution was to remove them and tape over the holes they were attached to, as shown in the photo. The back cover was the next problem I had to deal with. A large O ring is included to ensure proper sealing. After numerous attempts, I came to the conclusion that I would not be able to keep the O ring in place. If you look closely at the photo, you can see where the seal was pinched out on the side; it's not water proof without it. I did go ahead and mount it with Velcro, and it looks nice, but it isn't going to be as waterproof as I had hoped. I cannot recommend it at this price. If you absolutely must have a digital clock in a high-moisture environment, simply purchase a cheap digital clock and replace it every year or two when it becomes water damaged. For some reason, finding a truly waterproof digital clock is nearly impossible. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> KADAMS has contacted me about the problems I've had since writing this review. They went above and beyond to make things right with their product, and as a result of their excellent customer service, I increased their overall rating to three stars and requested that they notify me when they make updates to this or similar products.
