These Chanukah candles are quite lovely. For the past two years, I've been using them. I have a heavy metal menorah. (Depending on where you look, it's either iron or nickel. ) I bring this up because, despite giving the candles five stars, there are three issues worth mentioning. For starters, the thickness of the base is not uniform. As a result, some candles fit in my menorah while others do not. I use the thin candles for the Shamash so that I can remove it to light the other candles. To soften the base of the thicker candles before pushing them into the menorah, I use a lighter. I wouldn't do this with a menorah that is more delicate or ornate. Second, they aren't entirely drip-free. When the candles burn out, the wax in their holders and on the menorah is left behind. I either use a metal skewer to chip it out or use very hot water to melt it out. Not suitable for a delicate menorah, once again. Finally, they only burn for 30 - 40 minutes, similar to most Chanukah candles. It will take 45 minutes. I wish they were able to burn for a longer period of time. So, next year, I'm going to try the belly oil, which is said to burn for 1 to 3 hours.
Although each menorah is unique, candles are fairly universal. Basically, any candle should fit in any menorah, or at least do so with a little pressure. These things break under the slightest pressure, and to make them fit in the cup of the menorah, each candle must be modified. Because the bottoms of these candles were never squared, they have a teardrop shape. No menorah is constructed in such a way that each candle tips over. To make the candles fit, I had to use a utility knife to cut the bases off of each one. These are a pain to use, and I strongly advise you to look for a different brand. I've had great luck with the oil menorahs that use the small glass disposable cups.
But, to be honest, the "dripless" claim was the clincher for me. I was overjoyed at the prospect of not having to de-stress. For eight nights, I waxed my menorah. Not only were these candles not dripless, but they were also far messier than any other candles I'd tried before that didn't claim to be dripless. I'm not going to purchase anything else. But, in the midst of Hanukkah, you make do with what you've got. Shalom.
I've had the good fortune to be able to buy a lot of Hanukah candles in my life, but I only bought this brand because it was the day before Hanukah and I was desperate to find one that would deliver the next day. It was my fault; after all, if it's genuine beeswax, it should be premium, right? WRONG! To begin with, they do not completely burn down, making the task of removing the remains nearly impossible. I got the majority of this junk out after baths in hot water and scraping each candle holder individually. I'm looking forward to spending the majority of the eighth night cleaning out all of the holders. Then there's the fact that they burn so quickly that seeing a lit menorah is only a fleeting pleasure. How sad. We used to be able to spend more than an hour watching the menorah when we were kids. These candles are nothing but a waste of money. Then there's the issue of uneven burning. Not by a long shot. My candles always burn at the same or nearly the same rate. These aren't even close to being comparable. These are NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, like the candles I ordered from Amazon last year with only a few days' notice. Since Hanukah is almost over, it's pointless to warn people not to buy these terrible Hanukah candles next year, but I do want to express my complete dissatisfaction, since I can't return them at this point. Shameful! It's also a disgrace! They aren't even beeswax-based, to be honest. Just cheap paraffin or some other low-cost substitute for the genuine article. Candles from China for Jewish holidays. You don't have to say anything else.
First and foremost, these candles are extremely attractive. I usually just buy a cheap pack of plain white ones, but I couldn't find any this year and had to order these instead. They look lovely in the menorah and add a touch of elegance to the evening rituals. So far, all of the candles have fit snugly into the menorah and haven't dripped while burning. They do leave some wax in the individual candle slots on the menorah, which I have to scrape out occasionally in order for the next night's candle to fit, but this is an issue I've had with any menorah candle I've used, so I'm not deducting any points for it. The candles are wonderful, and I would buy them again.
They're lovely, long, and vibrant. But, more importantly, they burn cleaner than any other candle I've ever used. Three of the candles are next to each other because it is the third night of Hanukkah. Even so, there is no wax buildup on the candle's sides. There isn't any dripping at all. This truly astounds me. When they were finished, I simply dug out the last bit of wax in the candle holder part with a toothpick; it was incredibly quick and simple. I'll definitely be ordering these for next year. and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and so on. For Hanukkah, I strongly suggest these!.
I'd already spent $99 on these, but let me tell you, they were well worth it! When you pay a little more for them, you definitely get a longer burn time, no wax dripping, and better quality. They're also a perfect match for our menorah. There aren't enough positive things to say about this place! I'm so glad I went ahead and bought it!.
