An inch and a half is the approximate size. My husband recently taught my daughter's second-grade class how to play, and they were a huge success! They're vibrant and colorful, and they're simple to spin!
The letters are written in Hebrew. For my kids, I printed a chart from the internet. It wasn't a problem because kids are smart.

These were ordered for my "Hanukkah Spiel" at my children's school. The majority of the children are not Jewish, and this is their first time playing dreidel. I like to give each child a dreidel, a piece of gelt, and instructions because I am giving the "spiel" to a large group of students. I find outreach to be extremely beneficial - It's not uncommon for them to be exposed to Jewish culture for the first time. Because these dreidels are so difficult to read, it's nearly impossible to play the game. The letters are illegible and of poor quality. I'll spend a little more money next time to get better-quality, easier-to-read dreidels.
I was relieved that the package arrived on time, but I was furious when I opened the bag and counted the dreidels only to discover that six were missing? Guys, this isn't difficult!! I needed thirty for my daughter's religious school Chanukah party on Sunday morning, and the dreidels arrived at 8 p. m. on Saturday, so I didn't have time to go out and buy more. I was in charge of making goody bags for all of the children in her Hebrew school class, and we needed the right number of dreidels, of course. My next step is to contact the company to see if they can send me more dreidels, as I had to run around the Jersey shore like a crazed maniac on a drunken scavenger hunt for dreidels yesterday at the crack of dawn. I'm talking about six dreidels, and I'm not kidding. I did get a couple of cute ones, though.
These dreidels were purchased as part of a Hanukkah lesson for a large group of third-grade students (154) at a public school. The medium size was chosen because the words for each of the four symbols are printed on the dreidels, making it much easier for the students to understand. The dreidels arrived in a timely manner and are made of hard plastic, are colorful, and spin well on my classroom desk tops. The game was a hit with the students! I gave each student a copy of the game instructions so that they could play with their families at home with their dreidels. This is a product that I strongly suggest.
These dreidels are made of plastic, and the letters are difficult to read, but they are bright and colorful, which appeals to younger children. Next time, I'll most likely opt for the larger wooden ones and pay a little more. They're fine for spinning, but due to their size, they're more difficult for small fingers.

It's unclear whether the problem stemmed from the manufacturer or from Amazon. We didn't bother returning it because it wasn't a big deal to us, but double-check your package. It could just have been our good fortune.
I ordered this pack of 30 dreidels because the quality is excellent and the colors are vibrant (rather than the usual red and pink). My children, whose Hebrew is severely limited, will benefit greatly from the English transliteration. br>br>The item was given to me for testing purposes. I didn't promise to write a review, but I did say that if I did, it would be a fair and objective assessment.
The kids were enthralled by learning this game, and the pack was a great deal! We had no trouble spinning, etc. , and we had a lot of fun playing together.
