In fact, the candles already come with batteries. If you drop the candle in regular tap water, it will automatically light, and if you remove it from the water, it will turn off. It has been in the water for about 5 days on mine. I have tried putting new filters in my hot tub at 102 degrees F with not much success. A 20-minute period followed before the death.
