With most rug shampoos, you want to get it back out, so it really needs to be used on an extraction machine. That's not to say that it won't clean, but you really want to get it out. Dirt will be drawn quicker if this is not the case. It is important to note that a better extraction machine will result in better results. Bissell isn't a favorite of ours. Rug Doctor is.
