There's nothing in the description to support the statement that the skirt is only made from Tencel, but both the skirt and the filling are combined 100% polyester. The mattress cover was a disappointment to us since we have spent quite a bit of time trying to ensure our baby does not sleep with synthetic materials.

I purchased this a year before when I was forced to buy a new crib mattress after the bed protector we had been using failed. I had to dispose of an expensive foam crib mattress at that time. My favorite part is that it is easy to put on and secures well. It takes us about two leaks a month for our daughter to get to the point where she wears nighttime diapers despite drinking a lot of liquid. There have been hundreds of washings of this item and it has held up well. However, we use a crib sheet on top of this. As a replacement for a crib sheet, I don't feel this is the best option. If they can come out with crib sheets made with the same straps to keep it on the mattress, I would be very excited! Trying to find a mattress pad that works for us, I have purchased numerous mattress pads. While I did not want something too padded, I wanted something with a minimum amount of chemicals. Observing most of them, I discovered they were quilted so much the mattress was no longer sufficiently firm. I was concerned about the safety of the mattress. This purchase has left me so disappointed. Buying this eco-friendly product was a priority for me It is very strange that the product smells like perfume when you open it. It is made of natural ingredients, chemical-free, etc. My guess is that this is smelling for some reason. Obviously, I was pregnant, and this was a very strong smell to me. However, I suspect it was some kind of weird scent. In one hour after I put it in my laundry bin, the room had a strong scent of the fragrance. I tossed it in the sink and just hope it washed out, but it didn't. This product was returned the day I opened it, and I will be buying an alternative brand instead.
