Our sunbeam blankets are the same way, and we have three of them, all of which are broken after only a year of ownership. On my next purchase, I'll go with a different brand.
Because it wasn't working, Amazon gave me a refund. When I contacted the seller, they told me that if I plugged it into an electrical cord or a surge protector outlet, it would stop working. Mine stopped working in the wall outlet and surge protector, so I contacted Amazon for a refund, which they gladly provided. There have been numerous reports of it failing to function, which is why I believe Amazon will issue refunds. Dealyard, or something similar, was the seller's name.
This would be determined by the temperature of the room. When you turn off the heat, the blanket isn't designed to keep you warm. It would be able to retain body heat naturally.
It appears to only heat on the lowest temperature setting before shutting down.

It was set on fire.
This was purchased to replace my Biddeford electric throw, which had stopped working after three months (seriously, what is it with electric blankets?). ) When set to "five," this one isn't nearly as soft and isn't even warm. It also appears to only get warm in specific areas. I was let down. I guess I'll have to wait until next winter when Target has the Biddefords on sale (I'm not paying full price for something that will fall apart in a few months, but it was a cute blanket while it lasted).
The other reviews are completely correct in their criticisms of the blanket's lack of warmth; It's a complete joke, and it's almost not worth the hassle of the cord getting in the way. Because it starts on setting 1, which produces no heat discernible by modern scientific measuring equipment beyond the LED's blue glow on the controller, turning it on always entails hitting the button on the controller four more times to get to the "highest" setting to truly turn it "on. " It's most likely not Serta's fault (aside from marketing it as a true electric blanket); I imagine a group of lawyers and/or politicians have succeeded in destroying the concept of an electric blanket, just as they did for gas cans, in the past. Car GPSs, seatbelt warming indicators, and so much more (including attempting to eliminate the concept of hot coffee), though it would have been nice if it remembered the last setting (but I'm sure the lawyers would have something to say about that as well). This isn't your grandmother's electric blanket, nor is it the one you recall from your childhood. The blanket itself is comfortable, love the fake white fur, and the right size for throwing over the lower 2/3rds of your body while chilling on the couch if you keep your expectations in check. If there's a slight chill in the air, this blanket on high can serve you well; however, if it's truly cold, this electric blanket won't help you much more than a regular non-electric blanket. blanket to keep you warm However, I'm not sure where I can find a real working electric blanket any longer; Similar issues have been raised in the reviews of other blankets. I'm certain they exist; Exempt racing gasoline cans (meant to fill up race cars) from the stupid rules that intentionally slow the gas, causing it to burp and spill (because they actually have to work).
This is a soft blanket, but I purchased it for my diabetic mother who requires warmth. This blanket was never more than a smidgeon warm. So it was heating as it should have been according to the instructions. They should have labeled it "Serta barely heated electric throw" with a disclaimer that it is not suitable for people who require heat. For softness, I gave it a one-star rating.
They sent me a replacement controller to see if it worked. That wasn't the case. I brought a Sunbeam electric throw blanket for my daughter, which worked perfectly and heated up in seconds. This is something I would never advise anyone to do. It's a waste of time and money. I've been told I have a heart condition, and I'm always cold. Next week, I will place an order for a Sunbeam.
It's the same color as the one I bought. The controller, on the other hand, is unique in that it has only four options. Only on medium does it work. It's not going to work if you're at the top of your game. There isn't much to do when it's warm and low. Before I return, I'm going to give it a few days.
On the couch or in bed, it keeps me nice and toasty. I usually set it to two or three degrees, which is plenty warm. br>br>10/31/18 Update: About a week ago, about half of the blanket ceased to be warm. It doesn't get as warm as it used to, even when set to the maximum setting of 5. For the price I paid, I was disappointed.
