Can I get a towel warmer with a left plug?

Thank you for your interest. All tower warmers are powered by a single on/ off switch on the lower right-hand side One is available on the right. Unfortunately, there is no left-hand version.

if the towel warmer is mounted with the switch up and to the left, can it be used for that purpose?

Though the electric cord would be very visible hanging down the length of the towel warmer, I guess it could be done. It would look a bit odd, plus the cord hanging from the warmer may become in contact with the metal, which could become very hot.

What are the alternatives to plugging it in? Can it be hardwired instead?

The heated towel bars have become a part of my life. We had them in all three bathrooms in our previous house. It's a win for us, it's a win for our guests, and I think it helped us In a sense, it was only natural that they belonged in our new house. Despite the fact that this house has fixtures in Oil Rubbed Bronze, there was one problem. Therefore, we searched and decided this towel bar would be the best option for the space, and we are extremely pleased with it. Despite its capabilities, it does not provide as much warmth as we had expected. Although the item looks attractive and functions well, it is not worth the price. You should continue to look at it and pay attention to the reviews in order to make an informed decision. Having done some research, I wish I would have bought the product instead of just throwing it into my cart.
