The preference you would like to have. My personal preference was to buy the larger size so it could be worn either way. Keeping it loose allows my wrist to breath and allows me to wear the bracelet with other pieces of jewelry. If I move the bracelet up further, I am able to wash dishes without having to take it off. The two ways work well together.
