I am a physician, and I received this Vitamin D supplement. However, I can't take it because it has possibly dangerous levels of Vitamin A doctor will usually prescribe 50,000 IU of vitamin D ONE time per week for people with significant vitamin D deficiencies. 200 mcg of this vitamin are present. 8000 IU per day or 56000 IU per week equals 56000 IU. The toxicity of taking 60,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D a day has been shown to occur over several months. There is no proof that 56000 has studied it especially, just that it made sense for them. There's no doubt that the dose exceeds the safe limit. A fat-soluble vitamin, vitamin D can be found in animals and plants. You cannot pass it through the kidneys through urine as you can pass water soluble vitamins (the fat-based ones don't mix with water in the kidneys for elimination). Due to this, fat soluble vitamins cannot be excreted when you take too much of them, which means they can be toxic. The customer service is excellent. Recently I gave birth to my daughter (15 days ago), and I ordered a new prenatal before my baby was born. This product has been in my morning routine for a few weeks now. My experience with other prenatals was that they caused side effects. These have only been in my system for a couple weeks, but they seem to be a great supplement, both for nutrients and the DHA content.
