I now know that I have the MTHFR gene mutation, which causes trouble breaking down folic acid in your body. I can't say this was the sole cause of my miscarriage, but knowing that my body required folate in those early weeks of pregnancy is comforting. Folate is a natural form of folic acid that should be taken by anyone with the MTHFR gene or if they are pregnant (it is far superior to folic acid). I used to take a different brand of folate, but I've since switched to this one and am very happy with it.

Over the course of a year, I attempted to conceive. I had two rounds of IUI after ivf. I didn't get pregnant until I started taking this, and I gave birth naturally at the age of 42. I can't say for sure if this pill helped me conceive, but it did happen by chance.
