My endocrinologist told me I had 'SLIGHTLY' high testosterone, which makes sense because I'm losing my hair and they can't figure out why. I tried it to see if it could help me stop losing or at least slow down the loss. I was also put on another [prescription] drug that reduced my male hormones, and the combination of the two exacerbated my hair loss [guess my female hormones took over]. What's more, that, too, can lead to hair loss]. The shedding became incredible, but here's the catch: you can't just stop because there's this thing called a 'dread shed,' and you have to keep going because it's 'normal' [so kids, you don't know if you're actually losing more hair or if your hair is simply shedding to begin a new cycle of hair]. I know it's a lot of fun! You'll have to wait and see, and my time is up with no indications that it was a 'dread shed. ' 'I would recommend that if you're taking it for this reason, you make sure your hormones are at higher levels, as there's a risk of making them too low and getting the opposite effect, which my doctor failed to warn me about until it was too late, and now I'm left hoping that what little hair I had before will regrow. ' An aside: When I stopped taking the prescription drug, the extreme shedding did not stop, but it has slowed down significantly. After 3 days, I stopped using it. However, none of this matters if your hair follicles are being attacked by naughty male hormones. This might just help, and it has a lot of support otherwise, so I'm fine with it. It was simple to obtain and was an excellent value. Unfortunately, because of my IBS, I was unaware that it would cause severe stomach pain. After that, I looked into the connection, and it appears to be true. I can't speak to the product's effectiveness, but I thought I'd warn others who have similar problems. If you have stomach pains, lying down will help you feel better. It was agonizing for me, but it eventually passed. I was able to avoid a trip to the emergency room by lying flat.
