This was purchased to aid in the reduction of my cholesterol. It worked so well that it has become a regular part of my routine.
It's exactly what it says it is, and it's a good deal. I haven't had any flushes yet, so I'm assuming it's already working! It's worth a try if you want to lower your cholesterol.
Statins only lower LDL and raise HDL, whereas they have a two-fold benefit (lowering LDL and raising HDL). Isn't that enough?.
A few years ago, I saw on the news that niacin had been CLINICALLY PROVEN to reduce the recurrence of skin cancer in patients who took it. Since then, I've been doing it. The dosage is 500 mg in this product. Some people become "flushed" or "red-faced" as a result of their experiences. faced the prospect of niacin supplementation; That's something I've never experienced before. I haven't had a recurrence of skin cancer since I started taking niacin on a daily basis. After a few months of not taking it, I noticed some suspicious spots - I restarted my niacin regimen, and the symptoms disappeared in three weeks!.
It is flush-free because the formulation releases very little actual Nicotinic acid. br>Studies show that this form of Vitamin B3 is less effective at lowering cholesterol, but it may be more effective at treating pellagra (Vit 3 deficiency). br>5 stars for pellagra, 1 star for those with high cholesterol, high LDL, and low HDLbr>- Medicinal chemist with a doctorate in science.
Flush has never been a problem for me. Beets turn beet red, and the skin becomes hot to the touch. Niacin is a B vitamin that helps to keep the body healthy. I have no objections to this.
My doctor advised that I take this in addition to my Fish Oil and blood pressure medication. Then he referred me to a cartiologist, which took three months to schedule, and the first thing he told me to do was stop taking them because my doctor was incorrect. Niacin was once thought to be beneficial, but recent research has shown that it actually causes more harm than good. I'm not sure why I bought it. Make sure you don't throw your money away!.
However, I was under the impression that this TYPE of niacin was used to lower cholesterol. I failed to complete my cholesterol-lowering homework. Harvard Heart Letter is a good place to start. This isn't to say it's a reputable source of information. I just wasn't sure which type of niacin to take. Given that it is a vitamin, it is possible that someone in the family will benefit from it. Someone who isn't taking a different type of Niacin. Now I have to choose between taking the ER prescription that was given to me and following Harvard's advice.
