It has been several years since I last tried this product, and I haven't opened it up to taste anything off or noticed anything amiss.
In addition to being registered with the FDA, Gaia is compliant with all current Good Manufacturing Practices.
The size is approximately 3/4" long by 1/4" wide. This is a pretty small pill compared to some of my others!

I find it to be toxic and horrifying. I am upset that I consumed some of these before I googled and learned that Japanese knotwood extract shouldn't smell this bad! In addition to tasting the product, the capsule gives off a pleasant aroma. One of the first ones I opened was horribly bad. I have emailed the company for a week now and no response has been received. In the event of further feedback, I will update this review.
I am thinking of returning these since the liquid capsules look old, even though they have an expiration date of 11/21 on the bottle. It looks like the capsules usually are lighter than usual, light enough that the liquid inside shows through. As you can see in this bottle, the ones inside are black and I have no idea whether anything is inside, unless I break one open, which I might do to test them. A capsule that is empty will not be taken by me. I'm not sure if this is a Gaia Herbs issue or an issue with the delivery company.
