It's a life saver to have these little lozenges on hand! Trying to speak is hard for me because my mouth feels dry. There is a pleasant taste to them - My favorite is the mint, which keeps my breath fresh and my voice ringing. As if they were cough drops, they are very textured. Whenever I'm out, I always have a stash of them with me!

There are a number of things to consider when comparing ACT and XyliMelts. There isn't much life in the ACT as it melts pretty quickly. It's the dryness that's causing me the most problems. During the night, I spit into my mouth. There is no matter how well you sleep, you will get used to having two XyliMelts on your cheeks against your teeth for a while. I use two on my cheeks against my teeth. My cheeks are still filled with small chunks of flesh any time I get up in the middle of the night. As compared to an ACT, the ACT dissolves in just 5 minutes and only lasts an hour or less (in my case). It is okay to use Act as soon as you need to moisten your mouth, but if you need to do so for several hours, then it's not the best idea. With XyliMelts you can get relief that lasts.
The taste is better than any other dry mouth lozenge I've tried but it doesn't help the mouth produce moisture as some other products do. Taking these powders would only provide mild relief if you had a medical condition (like Sjogren's). While they last, I enjoy them The session lasts only about 10 minutes, and they're nice to change things up. Several people have told me that they use this while sleeping, which concerns me. It sounds like a dangerous product as it is like a hard candy, and you definitely do not want to swallow it.
