Questions & Answers

My hair is dark: 1) Will my hair take on a nice red tint as a result of this? 2) For a red tint, how long should I leave it in?

My hair is a dark brown color, and it turned bright red as a result of this. Before applying the mixture, I let it sit for up to 4 hours. After that, leave it in for another six hours.

My hair is breaking like crazy because of the color and shine! I used water, lemon juice, and olive oil to make mine. Help! ?

Please, for the love of God, don't let it be this way. DO NOT USE FOOD IN YOUR HENNA PRODUCT. There is no lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in this recipe. There are no acids, fats, or oils, so there is no coconut milk. It is not necessary to use acid or heat to release the dye; instead, allow it to steep for at least 12 hours, preferably more. The ability of henna to penetrate the hair shaft is hampered by fats and oils. Excessive drying and brittleness can be caused by protein, such as eggs, when combined with henna. br>br>To reduce dryness, mix 1 to 2 teaspoons aloe vera powder into 100g (roughly 4 oz) henna. It has no effect on the color. Amla also helps to condition the hair, but it turns brown rather than red in color. Amla applied AFTER henna has no effect on the color of the henna. Hibiscus powder is a great way to condition your skin while also darkening your red tones. Rose petal powder conditions without changing color, and you can get the same effect by mixing it with green tea or distilled water (or rose water for a conditioning effect). br>br>Lemon juice is the most likely cause of your hair breakage, but the description is contradictory, so there's no way of knowing what's in the product you got. Either this is 100% pure henna, in which case nothing else is in it, or it has "9 herbs" added, in which case it is NOT 100% henna. I'm not going to buy this because the description is incorrect in some way. I only wish for 100% pure henna- If I want other junk in it, I'll choose it myself, along with the quantities I want.

When you're ready to use it, how long should you let it sit? Would "olive" be a good choice? Is it possible to use indigo in the same way that henna is?

Personally, I use it as soon as the hot tea has cooled down. Allow it to sit for a while, but I never noticed a significant difference. Oil is great for curly hair, but I prefer to soak my hair in it after I've applied henna instead of mixing it in. Indigo is a color that can easily be mixed in.

My hair is a dark brown color. Is it likely that this product will alter the color of my hair?

Henna will, in fact, change the color of your hair. There appears to be a chemical change between the molecules in plants and your hair, despite the fact that it is natural. My hair has a dark red tint to it. If you're self-conscious about your gray hair, however, it will also change the color of your gray hair. My gray strands are nowhere to be found.

This is a fantastic treatment for natural hair
5/5

For natural hair, I strongly suggest this product. I make a paste with the powder and hot water, then add coconut milk, honey, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is creamy. For a monthly treatment, apply and allow to sit for a few hours. Coconut milk will keep your hair from becoming "crunchy," moisturize it, and make it easy to rinse out. It gleams because of the honey. br>br>It took two days to complete. br>br> My hair began to turn a red tint after three applications. 1B (near black) is my natural hair color. Like any henna, this will loosen your curls and give you the texturizer effect after a few applications. br>br>However, any protein treatments or conditioners should be avoided- When used in conjunction with henna, it will dry out and possibly break your hair. br>br>Photo 1- There has been one treatment. There is no change in color, and the curl pattern is mostly the same. br>br>Photo 2 - There have been four treatments so far. There is a distinct red tint to it. Curls that are loose, defined, and shiny.

Colors are fantastic
5/5

Henna blend of my choice. I like how it claims to be made entirely of natural ingredients. br>br>For a few days, it turns my grays a vibrant orange, then fades to a nice auburn. br>br>I switch between this henna and a few others I got from Frontier Co-op. op, as well as the Azure Standard Co-op However, for consistent gray coverage, this is still my favorite. br>br>I combine it with ACV or coconut milk, as well as filtered warm water, in a ziplock bag. Knead the bag, set aside for a few hours, then cut a corner off and use as icing. Using a freezer-safe plastic baggie keeps my hands clean and eliminates the need to clean dishes. I turn it on for four hours. 6 hours, and only use conditioner for the first few days.

Gray coverage is excellent
5/5

I'm a big fan of this product because I had a bad reaction to chemical hair dye a few years ago and then discovered Henna. My hair is naturally dark, but when I was in my twenties, I began to go gray. My hair looks and feels healthy after using this product. My color gets a lot of positive feedback. It adds shine to my naturally dark hair and makes my grays a beautiful red.

Color deposit is fantastic, and the conditioning is fantastic as well
5/5

Henna has been a part of my life for the past 5 years. This henna mixture is absolutely fantastic. It stained my hair extremely dark and left it feeling fantastic. When you use henna alone, it usually feels a little bare, but not with this. Granted, I added a few things of my own, but I believe the other herbs in the mix were the main contributors. My hair is already dyed red, but I've used henna to keep the color from fading in the past, and it works. My red was a little too yellow-tinted. For me, orange was a no-no, and this henna quickly remedied the situation. I wore it for about two hours and ended up with a gorgeous deep copper with all the nuances in tone and shade that I had before. This is fantastic! I'm going to buy more.

The Nupur 9 was not delivered as stated
3/5

It has nine herbs, according to the picture and description. It's clear from the image that it's prominently displayed on the front. I received my Nupur Henna and there is no mention of 9 herbs on the front, and the only ingredient listed on the back is henna. Very deceiving. It can't be returned, either. If the seller does the right thing and replaces the product with what I ordered, I will update this review.

It's good for you and it hides your grays
5/5

Henna is one of my favorite people. This is the third brand I've tried, and while I haven't had any issues with any of them, I must say that this one has a few extra benefits. Huge bag for a great price, with all the extra ingredients that are beneficial to your hair. Jaramansi is used to keep hair from graying - score! There's also a lot of other cool stuff in there. It was finely powdered (powdery) and had a tea-like aroma. I'd describe it as pleasant. br>br>I used avocado oil, coconut oil, and calamansi (Filipino lime) to make mine. Because we had it on hand, I decided to use it as a substitute for lemon. The beauty of Henna is that it allows you to customize it to your liking. So, if you've never used henna before, this is a good place to start. It isn't the same as purchasing a box of chemical hair dye. It takes more time and effort, but I believe it is worthwhile because it covers grays longer and makes my hair healthier. br>br> I make my mix with warm water and whatever else I want, apply it right away, and cover it with a dollar store plastic hair net that I leave on for as long as I can. In addition, I use dollar store plastic gloves. (Please note that this bag does not include gloves. ) Henna is beneficial to your hair, so the longer the better. I sleep in mine (with a hair net over my pillow and a towel on my pillow) and shower when I wake up. So I've been on my head for at least 7 hours. Allowing the mixture to sit in the bowl for two hours is another option. Leave in your hair for 3 hours and then wash it out. According to the instructions on the bag, it should take 4 hours to complete. br>br>Now, don't be in a hurry to wash this stuff off, or you'll pull out some hair. It's similar to mud work. Warm water should be used to rinse. DO NOT try to get all the tangles out at once by squeezing and working your hands. I highly recommend using a conditioning hair mask after you've rinsed it as thoroughly as possible. The kind you use in the shower for a couple of minutes. Before rinsing out, wait 5 minutes. After that, I believe your hair will be more manageable when you rinse it a second time. When I get out of the shower, I also apply a leave-in conditioner, and that's when I start working out my tangles. I find that my hair is a little stiffer and dryer right after henna, but that goes away with each shower. If it's still strange and you can't take it any longer, shampoo. It won't completely remove it, but it will help your hair feel more normal sooner. The longer you avoid using shampoo, the longer the henna will last, so if you can only use conditioner, do so. After the second or third shower, my hair is back to normal. br>br>When I use henna, I receive a lot of compliments. My hair appears to be in good condition and has a lustrous sheen to it. For the sake of convenience, I tried switching back to box dye, but grays appeared more quickly and the color faded quickly, which was inconvenient. So it's back to henna for me now. Fortunately, switching back and forth did not result in any strange colors. I have gray roots in my naturally brunette hair. The gray hairs are lighter and more copper colored than the rest of my hair, whereas the rest is a perfect red/brown that appears even redder in the sun.

Henna is an excellent hair dye
5/5

My hair looked great after using GODREJ NUPUR henna. It keeps my hair soft and keeps my gray at bay, and I usually buy it from an East Indian store, but I thought I'd try Amazon to see if I could get the same results. Henna hair coloring takes a long time and is difficult to master. It's all natural and doesn't contain any strange chemicals, so it's well worth the investment. This brand had no grainy texture, no lumps, and the texture of the henna was perfect for my hair after I added the black tea, coconut milk, and honey. There's enough in the bag to last a lifetime. I'm sure I'll be able to get three uses out of this bag. More than that, most likely. I'm content knowing that I can order henna from Amazon from the comfort of my own home.
