When you apply the gel to your sore and rub it in, you'll feel a sting from the medicine and irritation from the sore at first, then maybe 20 minutes later, you'll feel better. After 30 seconds, you should feel numb, and by 60 seconds, you should have reached maximum effect; I wouldn't eat or drink until it takes full effect, as the food/drink will wash away the gel. It takes about 10 minutes to take full effect, but it keeps the pain/irritation at bay for about 30 minutes. It takes 60 minutes to complete.

Wow, this gel is extremely effective. One day, while eating chicken, I accidentally bit my inner lip, resulting in a serious mouth wound. I dabbed a small amount of Orajel on the sore in my mouth, and it became numb almost immediately. In less than a minute, the discomfort was gone. It took a few days for the wound to heal completely, but now you don't have to cry in pain every time you eat cereal because of this gel. 5 out of 5 stars Just be careful not to use too much gel and numb your entire mouth.
