I was very surprised, though, to find out that none had to be performed. The twist on knob handle on each screw allows you to snugly tighten it without having to use There is an instruction sheet included in the bag that holds the base parts. All the parts are individually protected in clear plastic sleeves that break apart easily, and everything is spotless and so sharp where ever it touches. There is a diagram on the instruction sheet that shows where each part should go, but keep in mind that the screws are two different sizes. The same screw is available in a short and a long version. Despite the plain wording on the instructions, it does not specify that the four longer screws go into the handle part. If you accidentally used the long screw in the base, by the time you got to the handle, you would have to take the long screw back out. It may be a good idea to put loctite on the threads, since these are for my elderly parents and I do not want them to loosen over time.
