I don't want to say they're total garbage because one of them works and my girlfriend can kind of hobble around our apartment like a drunk pirate, but they're not very good. One of the crutches arrived in good condition and continues to serve the little drunken sailor clumsily navigating the kitchen as I type, but the other was defective. The wing nut was cranked on so tight that I had to use a wrench and a lot of my dark wizard abilities to get it to budge. Then I noticed that the entire screw it was attached to was turning as well, and the cheapos down at the crutches house, or wherever this abomination of modern medical engineering came from, didn't even have the decency to cut a screw driver slot into the flat end of the screw so that yours truly and Little Red, the now enraged hobblin pirate, couldn't even work together to get this diabolical devil apart. Not even good beer cans, but you know what I'm talking about. Hams, Beer 30, or some kind of hobo back alley drinking in the rain jazz come to mind. Then I took it to my father's house, where I used a dremmel tool to cut a slot for the driver in the screw end. It was a success, and we were all pleased. The formerly swashbuckling pirate had become a smooth sailor. Like a little red phantom, I was beebopping around the apartment, whizzing in and out of every room. She was everywhere: here, there, and everywhere in between. I even caught her doing the "time warp" to my Sigue Sigue Sputnik record in the living room, but the waters weren't calm for long. The clouds returned soon after, and the seas darkened. The voice of could be heard as the lightning flashed across the sky. The cold wind carries Red the hobblin pirate. "There's a splinter in the screw. " You can't say you blame the poor little thing for being upset. She savored the sweet aroma of independence and mobility. I was even planning on taping whistles to her crutches so that I could hear her approaching. But no, this glorified stick's failure has broken her little heart once more. She's clunkin right now as I type this. I think I just heard a muffin thrown into my Ninja Turtles display shelf while she was cussing. I'll look after it for you, hun. I'm going to finish this review before going to Lowe's to get this thing fixed.
The medium was something I chose. Whether I'm barefoot or wearing socks (I'm 5' 9") I'm 5" tall, and I'm using these crutches on the 5'6" setting, and they're perfect. If the top of the crutch hits your rib cage, it's fine. 3- 4 inches below the level of your underarm The shorter they are, the easier it is to reach and turn with them. It's never a good idea to rest your weight on crutches that are up in your armpits. Instead, place your weight on your hands while holding the tops of the crutches against your ribs. The ideal hand rest height is one that allows you to bend your elbow slightly. around ten degrees.
My fibula was fractured in an accident, so I'll be using crutches and a cam boot for the foreseeable future. I just got my new medium adult crutches, so I put them to the test right away. I had the height and handgrip level adjusted (as seen in the photos). Because I'm under 300 pounds, the crutches are quite sturdy. I'm confident that my weight will not be a problem for you. I not only feel more self-sufficient, but I can also walk more upright. Compared to the short youth crutches I was using before, this is a little faster. br>br>The padding under the armpit is fine; it should be two fingers below the armpit and not even touch the armpit to avoid damaging the armpit nerves. The handgrips were a good fit for my hands. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks as I increase my crutch usage. br>br>It's highly suggested. This review was written by a real user of the product, and no discounts were offered to persuade me to buy it.
These crutches are fine in terms of quality, and they are as advertised in terms of weight. I would not recommend these to anyone over the height of 4'8". My height is 4'11" and I am a petite adult. I was ecstatic to see that these junior crutches could be used by people up to 5'2" tall. All of Amazon's "adult" crutches were advertised as being suitable for people standing 5'2" or taller. br>br>I easily moved the handles to their bottom-most position after removing them from the box. most setting, and adjusted each crutch to the 4'11" setting, which was conveniently labeled. This increased the width of the crutches by about 4"-5". 412" is the distance between my armpit and the bottom of my sleeve. They were still 1" off when I reset them to the 5'2" mark. I could have returned them for this brand's "adult" option, hoping that the heights on the adult version were on the same scale, but I didn't. br>br>I could have returned them for this brand's "adult" option, hoping that the heights on the adult version were on the same scale, but I didn't. I had a badly sprained ankle that had rendered me completely immobile, and I needed to be able to move around because I had to wait a few days for crutches. I had to figure out a way to make them function. br>br>I taped thick layers of towels to their tops, which made them usable but not ideal. I've had to repeat the procedure a few times because the towels compact and make the crutches too short to use safely, which is inconvenient, but I'm getting by. However, if the product had been properly labeled, none of this would have been necessary. br>br>I like the product and would purchase it again if the labeling was correct. If you're undecided about whether to get the junior or adult version, I'd suggest getting both and returning the pair that doesn't fit. I wish I'd thought of it first. Please consider renaming the heights to reflect the distance between the floor and the armpit, or to accurate heights, to the manufacturer.
