I'm not sure what material they're made of, but I can tell you they're the worst scissors I've ever seen! With them, I can't even cut gauze. You can rest assured that no one will steal them from you.
I don't think I've ever looked into the country's history. I would not have bought it if I had suspected it came from either China or Pakistan.

Updated in 2019: Since my last purchase, the build quality of these bandage scissors has significantly deteriorated. Three were purchased to replace older ones that were lost/sacrificed in 2014 from the same vendor. The blades are no longer aligned, which causes a scraping metal sensation. When the blades are nearly fully closed, the interference on one of the three separates them with a snap. The final grinding and finish is rough and unpolished. Two of the three are unlikely to be able to cut Koban reliably. If you're handy with a grinding wheel, metal bending, and metal polishing tools, these could be salvaged, but they're a letdown right out of the box. Advice: Avoid these shears in favor of higher-quality shears. Original review: br>br>2014: br>br> These outperform the cheap, stamped bandage scissors by a long shot. These scissors are absolutely fantastic. They're just as good as any other pair I've worn in the hospital, but at a fraction of the cost. The blades are razor-sharp for bandaging and other tasks, and the fit is snug with very little slop. My only gripe with these is the clip, which is why I bought them in the first place. It's far too loose, and I'm stumped as to how to make it tighter. I'm not sure how many times it's slipped out of my scrub pockets. I'd be 100% happy with these if they fixed this.
I only gave it three stars because I thought they had the Medical Clip when I bought them, but they didn't. It was just a regular pair of Bandage scissors. They still do the job, but in my line of work, I'd rather have them clipped to my pants or shirt so I can grab them and get to work rather than rummaging through my pockets for hemostats and suture scissors before finding the ones I need!.
This item is extremely durable. I had to replace an old, old pair that I had misplaced!! br>It can be used for a variety of purposes. Bandages in particular.
I recently had a bacterial infection in my right foot and leg, which necessitated wrapping the foot at least twice a day, but all I had were regular scissors, and I was terrified of cutting myself because there was already enough fluid and blood seeping out. These bandage scissors are extremely sharp and protect against accidental cuts.
It wasn't as heavy metal as I had hoped, and it appeared to be smaller than the description suggested. They carry out their duties effectively.
These scissors were unusually comfortable for me. They don't appear to be that way. They are, however. The pocket clip comes in handy because it prevents the scissors from falling out of my bag. I like the rounded tip because it prevents me from poking my skin. Overall, these scissors are quite nice. Because stainless steel handles can be autoclaved, I prefer them over plastic handles. YAY!.
I used them for the entire semester, and the clip was AWFUL. It was never able to stay attached to anything. I'm not going to buy anything else in the future. br>br>Scissors were adequate, but I could have bought just the scissors.
