Thickness of the base is a bit over 3/4" or actually 20mm since everything is in metric units. The vertical support, however, is attached to the base with bolts. The bolt is designed to protrude out the bottom of the container about 10mm according to the installation instructions. As an alternative, you can install the bolt upside down, which will leave about 3mm on the bolt head. You won't have a problem with this on carpet, but on a hard floor, you will need to install some feet to raise the base off the floor, otherwise the bolt heads will rub against it. You may need to add rubber or felt feet on the corners and other places to make this work.
There was also the suggestion to place a dowel to defuse the table lowering on its own (regardless of how tight the knobs are turned). We were able to resolve the issue with the dowel. I was very pleased with the results. The dowel I used had a diameter of 7/8" and a length of 8". It has a height of 1/2”.
Those are attached with the same type of fittings that are also used for the other components of the product. Providing the product with hex socket tools is part of the package.

To make the bed - Especially for patients who are confined to a bed, this is a useful and handy tool. A great feature of this table is how it splits so that you can use one half as a desk and the other half as a table. The only way I could make it taller would be if it had the capability. My knees get caught underneath the table when I have a moveable bed. If I have the table over me and am in zero mode, I cannot go into it. If the table is over my head, my legs can only be in a flat position. Lastly, the bottom of the table should be made a little heavier, so that it does not easily topple.
