I think it should work fine at lowest setting. From the bottom of the bar to the bottom of the boxspring it measures 16 inches. I am 14 years old and so is my parents' boxspring. As you can see, the bar is about 5" from it, so it isn't touching all the way, but otherwise it is solid. It gets the job done.

In addition, I would like to mention two things that people should *1) I did not receive any instructions on how to assemble the box that came with it. My honest response is that the product is so simple to assemble that just the picture on the product box was enough to get it going. About 20 minutes was enough for me to go from my box to my bed. That's all there is to it. * 2) After fully inserted into the bed, it seems to cause the mattress to lift up by about 1/4" I assure you, this is nothing to worry about. Functionality will not be affected in any way. Nothing seems out of the ordinary to me. Although this is a minor nit, the functionality far exceeds it Make a choice. I can vouch for it, it works as advertised, feels solid, and has a nice appearance. I have only good things to say.
I like it a lot. The mattress was not comfortable enough for me. I fell out of bed three times before purchasing A mattress that can be fitted to every bed and every A sturdy construction. It will also help you get out of bed and is small enough to not bother you at all.
It is A lumbar fusion on my lower back required me to have something stable beside the bedside to help me get up and lay down when I was There is 30-inch space between the foot of my bed and the top of my mattress. It was my son who made a small platform for me to step up on to sit up on the bed more easily. It was the perfect solution to use these rails. The bed rail I purchased has been very helpful to me. It is a very sturdy product, and I wanted to make sure that my mom doesn't slip when pulling herself up with the cushioning around the handle (not to mention that it feels great to hold). The product I bought for my dad previously was not as good as the one I bought for him now. I found the assembly to be very easy. Besides the zippered pouch, it also comes with a pull out pouch that you can attach to the bed rail. It would be handy for anything you want to keep close at hand while you sleep. At the moment, my mother has not used that, but it will be a good addition if she decides she needs it in the future.

He recently had spinal fusion surgery. So I bought this to help him improve his mobility. As part of his recovery instructions, he was not allowed to twist, so getting out of bed was a struggle. He considered this bar to be a lifesaver. In the morning, he was much easier to get out of bed once he had it. The bar was the only thing that helped him, and he said he wouldn't have been able to do it without it. We had no problems putting this bar together since it is very sturdy.
